I'm Lise. I'm french and, according to the number of posts I've made, I can still be considered as new on this board (and I actually feel that I've signed up yesterday ... 2009 was a busy year). I discovered this board slightly after discovering Owen's music. The fact that he often posts here has probably influenced my perception of his music (more precisely it gave me good impression on the person, which usually makes me appreciate more that person's work). Anyway that is probably the main reason why I've signed up here. That and the "Best album of 2008" thread which made me discover Entanglement. I do read quite a lot this board (by the way thank you all for the music sheets and video links), but I don't post so much probably because I'm to lazy to align several sentences in english.

Haha, I had no idea we had a lot of people who didn't post because they think they fail at English (this is how I felt at first, since I'm a Frenchie). Well, welcome to all of you guys on these fine forums. I'm Scarychips, but you can call me Anthony. I am a 16 years old male from Montreal (well, the Suburbs, but it's still part of the Metropolitain Region of Montreal). Really nice to welcome new people here. the old ones started to stink

Haha, I had no idea we had a lot of people who didn't post because they think they fail at English (this is how I felt at first, since I'm a Frenchie). It is not exactly that I think I fail at english. I'm actually much better than most of the french people I know (without meaning of showing off). What is for sure is that I'm better at talking than writing. Whatever I write I always take time to refine things. It takes twice long in english than in french and it can turn out lame anyway. Anyway 2 posts in a day that probably more that I've done in a month...

Hello, hello.
I'm Nicholas. I'm from Washington state, but I'm currently going to school in Chicago. I (kind of) play the viola, and I found this forum a while back while looking for sheet music for Final Fantasy. I tried practicing a bunch this last summer so that I could actually play one of Owen's songs and not sound terrible, but it didn't go so well. Half of the time I'm rather cynical and apathetic, but the other half of time I'm overly excited and bubbly and full of love. Perhaps I will train myself to change with the flip of a coin, so that in the morning I can decided whether it is a happy day or a dismal one. Wouldn't that be interesting? To, just by the sight of a flipped coin, have all the biochemistry in your body change and thus alter your mood? Anyway, I'll probably read everything you guys write but will respond to very little. But for the record, you all sound interesting and talented and friendly.

Hi. I've been here for a couple of years. So~ maybe I am not a newbie technically, but I feel like I AM. I'm in Seoul, Korea. Not the north one. I remember Owen once twittered that his favourite restaurant in Toronto is "Buk Chang Dong Soon To Fu". That dish, Soon To Fu is from this country.
I'm sort of lonely here. I can't find any person who likes (knows) Owen's music. I have to import every his cds & vinyls on the internet. I am an Owen Pioneer. Yeah~! Live concerts? Don't talk about that to me. It makes me sad. Owen's tour is just a dreamy word for me. I lived in Toronto for a while. (that's why I know Owen.) English is not my language. Definitely not. So I'm kinda reluctant to write on this board. SHY.
Anyway. the newbie mission completed. So, Welcome me people!! ;-)

I've been here for a while, I guess (and had lurked before that), but I am a sucker for formal introductions.
My name's Steve. I am a college senior double majoring in Biochemistry and English, soon to be a PhD student in Biochemistry. I can play piano decently, string bass competently, guitar self-taughtedly, and bagpipes barely. My goal in life is to kick ass.
Welcome one and all! We are basically the nicest forum on the Internet.

Hey everyone I'm Matt and initially joined to share some sheet music, as well as the Heartland excitement. Glad to've found this welcoming place - when I first discovered "He Poos Clouds" I was desperate to talk to people about it and couldn't find anywhere online, weirdly! I haven't been an active online-forum-user anywhere for quite a long time, so I'll probably a bit irregular, for which I apologise. In other news I do a boring day-job, but am an aspiring composer/song-writer/pianist and usually have some project or other on the go... I'm hoping to record a little CD with a friend this year . OK, that's all!

Welcome to you Matt. And it is fine being an irregular. At least, you're not like hundred of users who register and never come back again. (Stay with us! We love you...)
And what Steve said is true. I can attest by saying that people on this forum are awfully nice.

It's true! I have had several users send me videos and dvds of performances for free (even though it be across an ocean thankyoujules) and there is a lot of love and almost no judging!
To all you lovely people who are unsure about posting in English: post in your own language! (And then maybe stick a rough translation on the bottom, although letting us figure it out with internetty tools would be An Adventure and potentially amusing the way all Babelfish adventures are.) There is no reason why this forum should not be multicultural and accepting of all, I think.
Welcome everybody!

This outpouring of comments about the "niceness" of the forum is perfectly timed. I was lurking around a couple of other band forums the other night, and among the photos and "Best of 2009" lists, there were so many bitchy posts that all boiled down to who was the more dedicated fan and "*tuh!* how could you not have been there" at this show or that solo tour. It was terrible to see, especially since I do really love the bands the boards were for, and I thought about posting what a great atmosphere surrounds this community on "Talk Small," but I figured it would seem silly.
But, now that it's out there, let me jump on the bandwagon to call out a hearty "yay us!" Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome here and welcome to all the new members!

Glad to've found this welcoming place.... OK, that's all! ..you failed to mention me entirely. clare, I know how you feel. You can imagine the Owen Pallett fan base in the pacific islands aren't extremely immense. ..It wasn't until this past October did I actually see him perform for the first time. and that was only because I was traveling.... I never thought I would actually see him (which is why I joined this board, to feel like I'm experiencing everything too) so don't give up, you'll see him! -also, my sister was in Seoul yesterday! (it was only because her flight from Mumbai transfered there before coming back here..but.. that still counts. right?)

There is no reason why this forum should not be multicultural and accepting of all, I think. Ääk! En mä osaa kirjoittaa foorumeille suomeksikaan. Roughly translated, I find posting in most message boards difficult even in my first language. I've been lurking here for some time now, at first with a different username. But thanks to this new newbie thread, I thought I'd try and introduce myself. Umm... I'm Liisa. I discovered Owen a couple of years ago, might have been via Stereogum, I'm not sure. Last summer I had the pleasure of seeing him live, and that turned me into a total fangirl. I've been listening to Final Fantasy a lot after that. I preordered Heartland and I'm very much looking forward to hearing the album in its entirety. Eh... I guess that's it for now. [edit] ach. had to do some editing.
