Finally got my In Conflict package yesterday (would've been a lot sooner if the woman in the post office had actually told me it was there when I asked - luckily I had the spare CD I bought for a friend to listen to in the meantime though!) But I was really disappointed to find the download code for the double vinyl doesn't include Bridle and Bit - I won't be able to listen to my vinyl til July because my record player is back at home 500 miles away!!! And it was the song I was looking forward to most. If anyone knows where I could find a digital version online I will be eternally grateful! Anyway the album is every bit as perfect as I expected and more - I haven't been able to stop listening to it! Someone is going to rip the deluxe lp soon, If I can get a digital version of Bridle & Bit from them I'll upload it to youtube.

the first and second thirds of the 1500 miles I drove in the last 48 hours lacked In Conflict until I rescued it from the remains of my apartment. I shouldn't be surprised the songs are good to drive to. Not just in reference (all those detritus words); not just the production and balance; not just my affective processors gone haywire). I used it to keep myself awake and as a divinity / prognostication areas for cop placement and time-based phenomena.

It sounds totally different to the live version, not at all what I was expecting, but I love it! I don't know if it's just me, but the vocals remind me a little of the Export EP version of The Great Elsewhere - kind of eerily beautiful.

I may very we'll be over analyzing this, but is there a nod to Game of Thrones in one of the songs? I'm too embarrassed to point out where I noticed it, but is it just me?

Totally, Export EP GE was the first thing I thought of when I heard the track. Glad to hear you got to have a listen. Does anyone have the Japanese version bonus tracks?

Yes! I could probably send them to you when I get home (if that's okay). They're really great! The Secret Seven on piano is beautiful.
To somewhat echo Alyssa's post on In Conflict in err life situations.... I'm in St. Catherine's for Nationals for rowing, and my team is staying in these little waterfront cottages, and after our races we usually sit around and eat dinner. I decided to throw In Conflict on the speakers in evening, and I have to say, staring at Toronto's skyscrapers way in the distance while the sun set over the lake while the buildings reflected it's warm orange light while listening to "On A Path" was one of the most beautiful and melancholy things I have experienced.
On another rowing note, we're tempted to name one of our new boats "The Riverbed" as the song has gotten us through many difficult pieces on the indoor machines. Those distorted violins coupled with dangerous amounts of lactic acid in our legs make for a truly intense workout. As Owen says "thunderhead oh thunderhead, I will be your Riverbed" the muscles fire, the ATP releases and the stroke rate and pressure go immediately up then when you're at your threshold and you're counting strokes till the end of the piece, you hear the instrumental verse of the orchestra come in and the livid drum fills and finally that 'landing' feeling of the instruments hitting the tonic and the meter count on our rowing machines hitting zero. It's great. I'd have to say though that I never expected finding Owen's music in the weight room with a bunch of very straight sweaty guys.
Although, traditionally our shells (boats) are named after people, so don't be surprised if you see the "Owen Pallett" cross the finish line first in a couple of years.

I, too, would love the tracks. If not I have the double LP and will hopefully get my turntable soon to rip B&B myself and put it on Youtube, but the import on the Japanese In Conflict may tack me a while.
I am so in love with this record. It came at just the right time in my life, and I've been listening to it nonstop. The Secret Seven is deeply comforting to me and I'm finding a lot to love in the arrangements and lyrics. The Sky Behind the Flag may be my favorite individual track.

I have nothing to play an LP with, so I would really appreciate the bonus tracks if the forces that be are generous.
