So Bridle and Bit doesn't have any vocals on it? Also how did you go about purchasing the Japanese version? No no.. Bridle and Bit has lots of lovely vocals ....just not Owen... It's only on the 2xLp version (not on Japanese CD edition btw) I order that from CD Japan which I've used before. It's not so cheap but very reliable which is what matters when your cd is traversing the global. Someone else might know a cheaper place.. the obvious overhead is the shipping. Started to see clips from the show on Wednesday @the Oval London. What a great show..loved the bit where Rob set off on the drums and the violin missed it's queue. Rob soldiered on solo and then they did it again for real. They should keep that bit in the show.

Thank you for the info Jules! I'll take a look. The Butcher sounded brilliant from Oval Space

ugh, why does every country get things before Canada? my 2xLP preorder hasn't arrived yet :/. I hope that someday I will be able to hear that piano version of The Secret Seven... I think I might explode from its beauty. Well isn't the album supposed to be released on May 27th? Also not sure if it would affect our shipments and I know this article is a little dated but maybe there are still delays? I ordered the He Poos Clouds LP from Amazon a month or two ago and there was a month delay once it got to Vancouver www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/canada-post-richmond-plant-causing-major-mail-delays-says-union-1.2611539.

I preordered the 2xLP from my local record store and today I got to pick it up. I was pretty surprised that it had already arrived (I live in Finland).
Anyway, I just wanted to say how much I love this record. This time I decided not to listen to any live recordings before the release. However, once I'd ordered the record, I couldn't help myself and downloaded the leak. For the past week I've listened to the album at least once a day. At the moment "I Am Not Afraid" is the song that I've played the most (loved the Q version as well) but I expect to find new favorites as I listen to the album more. I feel like I can't express myself very well, but I've been moved by many of the lyrics on this album. I guess there's something there that I relate to. Plus, the album sounds beautiful.
Thank you Owen for sharing another great album with the world.

you know what else sums to 40 Help a chap out...? Mine arrived today. I can't really add anything except that it was a beautiful, wonderful surprise to hear Bridle & Bit as it is on the double LP. Just when you think you know what a song sounds like... Thanks, OP, for never letting me settle.

oh, wow, this is unexpected. does anyone know who sings on Bridle and Bit in place of Owen? you guys are making the wait unbearable (though I should be able to listen to my vinyl Sunday... I think it's already arrived, I'm just staying somewhere else so I can't pick it up right now)

Thanks for sharing that! I've always been curious as to what he thought about his songs, and this was really informative.

Owen lived in Orkney? When did that happen!? Also dividing soccer teams into 5 and 6? I'm not sure who was explaining that to Owen, not that it in anyway distracts from the brilliance of that song. That Q track-by-track and other Q live performances are both such treats.

Thanks for sharing that! I've always been curious as to what he thought about his songs, and this was really informative. Yeah very intriguing! Nice to hear where The Secret Seven came from, also how punny Song For Five and Six is. Also, pitchfork review: pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/19395-owen-pallett-in-conflict/ Surprised it didn't get BNM'd.

So, Bridle & Bit, I finally heard the album version. I still love love love it, and I don't have a problem with Owen not doing the vocals, but I will say, I liked the parts that comes in at 2:20 and 3:25 much better on violin. It seems really muted and underplayed on this version, which is odd to me since I figured those were the grand, triumphant moments of the song.

Shit. Bridle & Bit is so good! The download that comes with the LP doesn't include the song though Does anybody have/ know where I can find a digital file for it? I'd love to be able to listen to it more often. (hint hint*) Also listening to the album on vinyl is incredible! A lot of sounds and parts of sounds I hadn't noticed before I am noticing now.

Bridle & Bit is crazy good. Everything I wanted from a song about two galaxies colliding.

Finally got my In Conflict package yesterday (would've been a lot sooner if the woman in the post office had actually told me it was there when I asked - luckily I had the spare CD I bought for a friend to listen to in the meantime though!) But I was really disappointed to find the download code for the double vinyl doesn't include Bridle and Bit - I won't be able to listen to my vinyl til July because my record player is back at home 500 miles away!!! And it was the song I was looking forward to most. If anyone knows where I could find a digital version online I will be eternally grateful! Anyway the album is every bit as perfect as I expected and more - I haven't been able to stop listening to it!

The Japanese CD arrived today and boy are those Piano Ballad versions of I Am Not Afraid, and The Secret Seven beautiful. Really shows off Owen's vocals well.
