Here's my stab at "Lewis' Dream". The ellipses are phrases I can't make out, the square brackets are what I *think* belongs. Fix! Fill in the blanks! Give us a definitive version? *cough*Owen*cough*Lewis' Dream The neighbour was fifteen when he went off to college I stayed home and [tried to go] with his best friend He told me he was gone to ... Then he .... himself Where did he go?
Master comes to me while I'm sleeping Gives me hell for my overeating Tells me how I should cut my hair Thank god I'm only dreaming
And our arms of bronze and bone I was born into a loving home And of all the promises that I have made This word will never break
... [on your chest] in a fever Sing a song to the folks on the river Heaven's number is 71 Our work is only just begun
With our arms of bronze and bone We will set our shoulders to the stone We will lift it, we will bear it 'til our bodies Our bodies break

I've been trying to figure this one out but it doesn't make much sense..."Oh Spectrum!" seems to be the story of the kingdom of Spectrum, "Blue Imelda" appears to be about a farmer and her sexuality...
[ the ?? are missing words and (?) in front of a word means I'm very unsure about it ]
"Oh Spectrum! Blue Imelda"
Oh son He said he was this 60 thousand square boys/balls(?) And then son The queen the queen was born ??
???? ???? The spectrum Is anything more beautiful than failure(?)
Blue Imelda, she's the saddest ? of Spectrum She can't rely on business to keep herself satisfied ???? in the land of her father With one hand on the headboard(?) and the other on the soil
?? forever, I will never take a lover I'll keep myself as pious(?) as my body will allow I know I'm just a ? in the body of a farmer With one hand on the pussy and the other on the plough
I ?? deeply ? belly(?) ? ?? say it from beggining to the end ?? come together ?? Can I take you as a friend?

Owen gave us a sample of the "Blue Imelda" lyrics a while ago. They were:
Blue Imelda, she's the saddest bitch in all of Spectrum She can't rely on business to keep herself satisfied For we are only farmers and the love of a farmer Has one eye on the pussy and the other on the plough
It kind of looks like they were mixed up between two verses, though. Interesting.

Ok, its a bit off topic but I don't want to start a thread on how I'm stupid and hard of hearing. I don't usually look at the CD booklets because I think its nicer to try and figure out the lyrics and by this I mean I'm lazy. So this was what I thought the lyrics for he poos clouds was:
Lazy, you lazy poet Your books are reckless and I can't feel it But hey, hey, all the boys I have ever loved have been gentle, I've been a guest I scream or read a book, Move them with my thoughts I move them with my thoughts I write his name in nothing He wispers to the author that I will be the only one Escape, escape, this time for real
[... do bee da la dee doo something something...]
He's the only friend I have who doesn't do cocaine and all the boys I have ever loved have been confidential, out of a broken home or a seedy past so I know, I know its gonna to last I move them with my thoughts I move them with my thought He needs he needs my guidance He needs he needs my time And I am not the only one
He swam to the edge of a wall of the world papapapapavoice, inclined, "my son, the answer is: maybe, maybe not, may be nuts, may be nuts, I have goals" (do bee da la dee doo something something) "may be nuts, may be nuts, may be nuts, maybe not"
Gotta find and kill my shadow-self Gotta wake up every single seashell Gotta find and kill my shadow-self Gotta wake up every single seashell You may have been made for love, But I'm just me.
In my head it was about a writer/poet on the brink of despair while reminiscing on past love affairs; so I don't think I'll be able to contribute here...

Owen will generally play a song a few times before he finalizes the lyrics. So our live recordings may contain word jumbles or little slurs. Honour the Dead or Else Sleepy boy did you forget about your godfather? For him they put a barrier about the bridge. In memorium... Honour the dead or else. ? Your father said don't be a bloody twit Now you mourn(?) for him honour the dead or else.. honour the dead and save your hard lies. A haunting mistress in your head You taste him when you smoke in bed He switches off the cure(?) and says... Honour the dead or else Honour the dead and save your hard lies. Where do, where do you see his face?! On nantes(?) on nantes on nantes and stains!?! He pricks you when you overeat! S-s-selfish selfish sleepy boy! Sssselfish selfish sleepy boy! You need, you need a body to get in the way! You need a body to get in the way!!

Lewis' Dream is a Spectrum song, but I reverb'd out the vocals so it sounded more like eating margarine.
Lewis' Dream
Benito was fifteen when he went off to college I stayed home and tried to go with his best friend He told me he was gonna cut my neck right across Then he read Rousseau Where did he go?
Master comes to me while I'm sleeping Gives me hell for my overeating Tells me how I should cut my hair You think I am only dreaming
But I've arms of bronze and bone I was born into a loving home And of all the promises that I have made There's one I'll never break
Write his name on your chest in a fever Sing his song to the boats on the river Heaven's number is seventy-one Our work has only just begun
With our arms of bronze and bone We will set our shoulders to the stone We will lift it, we will bear it 'til our bodies Our bodies break
---
Hope you enjoy it.

Also, Cockatrice (Bass Hit), Blue Imelda, The Butcher and Oh Spectrum are all on Spectrum, 14th Century, along with the song "The Ballad Of No-Face".
I don't know what the release date is for it but I'll have it and Plays To Please for sale as of August 27th. Not about to post the whole album up right now but here's a couple of songs
Oh Spectrum
Outside these city walls we've sixteen thousand squatters Inside, the queen, the queen has borne us only daughters You'll hear it from auditor and lawmaker and jailor "Oh Spectrum, is anything more beautiful than failure?"
Blue Imelda
Blue Imelda, she's the saddest bitch in all of Spectrum She can't rely on business to keep herself satisfied For we are only farmers and the love of a farmer Has one hand on the headboard and the other in the soil
Oh Lord, I'm yours forever, I will never take a lover I'll keep myself as pious as my body will allow But I am just a farmer, and the body of the farmer Has one eye on the pussy and the other on the plough
I bow, I bend deeply I'm sheepish and barely able to say it from beginning to the end Your shirt is torn to ribbons Woman, can I take you as a friend?

Ahhh, I've been trying to decipher Spectrum/Blue Imelda for so long. Now that I know what it actually says it makes a lot more sense.
Fascinating!
p.s. Don't forget All That They Know... unless I've missed something somewhere.

Twice a week I wake up at 6 and revise and write lyrics until noon. I work on all songs at the same time. Songs change and get better. Verses disappear. So deciphering songs like Scandal At The Parkade will only lead to disappointment.
