Its been a bumper week for new cds through the front door.
Today it was the new Laura Barrett album Victory Garden. Enjoying listening to it whilst I tat away on my work puter upstairs. Track 13 is weird but strangely wonderful at the same time. It also appears unlisted anywhere.

looking at the lyrics and just listening to this album makes me realize that it really is one of the best, if not the best, of the year. statutory rape is bad! but it is still such a nicely worded album with such intricate pieces that fit together so well

Entanglements is fantastic, but I think Fleet Foxes still tops it for best this year thus far.

Really, pearl? I think statutory rape is wonderful; maybe even more so than Entanglements.

well i guess entangling yourself in statutory rape would be the best possible situation then.

Indeed it would be.

Although I guess that is, after all, the scenario taking place within the album, thus winning the album title of most wonderful. Hm...

Oh and one last statutory rape-unrelated comment on Entanglements: I hear no "Max/MSP 'Stutterer' patch," Owen! Where is this "Stutterer" you speak of?

It may not be the best album of this year, but I really like the new Of Montreal record. It's really growing on me.

They were in Montreal today. I couldn't go see them for lack of someone to go with.

Meh, you don't have to go with someone to concerts.
My vote probably goes to Born Ruffians or Vampire Weekend...

atlas sound!!! and the deerhunter is amazing too, but it sounds like atlas sound(obviously). also the lackthereof(menomena's drummer/singer) album is quite good, as is the dennis wilson "pacific ocean blue" rerelease with his unreleased album.

Microcastle sounds like Atlas Sound? It doesn't really sound that much like it (in my opinion, at least). Bradford didn't even write all of the songs.
