the last song which made me cry, being that i cried due to the fact it was so depressing was 'november' by azure ray, i'm not really sure, i think its the cello. cellos get to me in a great, unknown way.

For "Gloomy Sunday" I also like Lydia Lunch's cover. It's quite depressing indeed. Also, Independence Day: Ani Difranco. The best break-up song: Traffic: Bitch and Animal.

"Delicate" by Damien Rice. Mostly because of what I was doing the first time I heard it. So now everytime I hear it, it just reminds me of that. And everything Damien Rice is generally depressing to me, but I love it. And, on a different note, check out how depressing this is: That is the second-to-last Calvin and Hobbes strip. It was the last one printed on a weekday (Saturday).

This is the last one, printed on a sunday and still sad, but it's also optimistic:

(unless it's obvious, then i'm making a witty joke) i think the second to last was relfecting on how the author was tired of making the strip, and that's why the author, the child, in this "episode", isn't paying attention and is just writing. the last frame also shows hobbes as a doll, not an animated friend. calvin's last words "i really have to finish this" reflect how there is only one episode left. the last episode's meaning is pretty obvious. did the artist end up starting another strip or what?
oh, and most depressing song, "ba ba" by sigur ros.

Oh, I never really thought of it that way. The fact that Hobbes is portrayed in his stuffed animal form makes it seem to me that Calvin's imagination is fading. Possibly because of the pill he mentioned. Calvin was always hyper and outlandish so I think the pill could be Ritalin and the comic could be addressing how Ritalin is so over prescribed and causes kids to just lose emotion.

He pretty much retired from cartooning. I read this thing on bill waterson like a month or so again, and he's pretty, well... not reclusive, but i guess quiet now. He just spends time with his family now and paints i think. Calvin and hobbes was amazing, so was bloom county, so was pogo.
