So excited. I'm sure this will be worth the wait! So I'm guessing we'll get this in our hands some odd time in 2014?

Perhaps you should just get Mr. Wolf on the next album, or is that not a possibility. YES PLEASE!!!!!!!! (It just so happens that he's taking some time off to work on side projects etc just now... just saying )

very much looking forward to the exciting and fun reason- I have a slight hunch as to what it is. as for collaboration, too bad on the Tilda front, but I also agree that Patrick Wolf would be kind of a dream come true (again)!

Do you know, ragamuffin, that weirdly I'm friends with Colleen from when she was in Cerberus Shoal? Played shows with her as far back as 2002? that is very cool, I had no idea! the better reason for a collaboration ((: did you play on any of their albums?

On the subject of collabs, the first people who popped to mind are Daniela Gesundheit, Annie Clark, and Ariel Engle. I think any of those could be quite lovely.

you'll know why in a couple months why I couldn't possibly put out a record this fall. Focusing on chamber music atm. Writing a ballet! is this the reason? or were you referring to something else?

The record is taking a long time because I am constricted by my own dogma. Records don't flow out of me the way they flow out of other people. Have you heard that joke, "Owen, you're so uptight that if you put a lump of coal up your ass, in two years you'd have a diamond"? That's the answer. I'm uptight and it takes me two years but it's diamonds! (Shitty diamonds.)
The good news, of course, is that the record is sounding totally amazing. Fans of the first two records will be happy to hear that Leon is mixing it. There are lots of synths. GREAT SYNTHS, not stupid synths. Leon and I are getting the guy who mixed the last two Knife records to help with some final tweaks. And better lyrics! There is a stickied thread and the lyrics are all up there.
Oh and I settled the guest vocalist question. There are several heavenly-bodied women, one best friend and one famous old man.

I kind of want to retitle the song "Bridle & Bit" into something that lets the listener know that the song is to be sung by the voice of The Milky Way. "The Milky Way Sings" or something. "Song for NGC 6397"?
"I Left Her On The Pass" is another rewrite. It used to be a song about the day my id (her) sublimated. Now it's more of a follow-up to "This Lamb Sells Condos". It could use a new title as well. I'm taking suggestions!

I'm so used to coming up with song titles well before the song is written, I'm no good at the other way around

"The Realtor and the Lessee"? I'm just going on the familiar theme...
as for retitling "Bridle & Bit", I think "Song for NGC 6397" would be brilliant (though might be a mouthful for introducing at shows). thanks for the updates, Owen, and looking forward to hearing some GREAT SYNTHS!

Oh and I settled the guest vocalist question. There are several heavenly-bodied women, one best friend and one famous old man. I hope you didn't interpret my post as demanding answers from you about why the album is taking so long. I want it to be as amazing as possible, too, and I don't mind waiting even longer. I was just curious if that tweet was what you were hinting at or not. As for song titles, here are my (shitty) suggestions: For "Bridle and Bit" I think From the Mouth of the Milky Way sounds good if you want to jazz it up a bit but that might also be confusing in its own way, idk. If "I Left Her on the Pass" is becoming a sequel to This Lamb Sells Condos then I might title it New Development, just for the wordplay, but that may or may not fit what you had in mind.

Good suggestions! No misinterpretations here, no one is more frustrated with late albums than I am. But there are other reasons, too. Pat's mom got cancer last year. She decided to fight and Pat's an only child so he had to take care of her. I'm glad she did, we had an awesome year. But she died and that was tough. I've been depressed, too. The album is kind of about that: depression. But not in a dark, wallowy way. Celebration of the beauty of mental instability. Glorious manic state, etc.
