Hey. I was thinking, then I thought some more, then I turned the computer on again. I should be sleeping already. But what if we could get all this excellent people we have here on the forum and create a trans-continental chamber ensemble to record our own works and maybe some really cool covers? We don't need super executions nor audio engineering, we just need to record and post audio files and have someone organize them. If we have an updated audio file and everybody posts their separate audio and the overall mix every time, we can keep track of everything! I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of people here wanting to write for this ensemble, but we need to know about who can play/record what first. I can come in with piano, keyboards in general, synths, melodica, electronica, sampled instruments, acousmatic and cello-banging. If things get really interesting I can go down to a studio and round up pretty much anything. I can also organize the projects, and do mixes and masters after we've had progress. We share a very specific interest in music - I think something great could come from our collaboration.

If we do decide to tackle that, it'd be the third (?) time we get something like this started. It always fails...but it's a good idea!

Yeah. But now you've got a VERY SERIOUS composer on your ranks. Kidding. I'm serious though. No, just kidding, why did it fail? I'm still a serious composer.

We pretty well divided the labor and assigned instruments for recording "Oh Heartland, Up Yours!" Not all of us have recording equipment or ready access to it, or we're busy. In the end nobody wanted to chastise anybody else and the project faded out.

Still, I'll join in if anyone's written any vocal music.

Is there enough to start something, though? Who does have recording equipment, and availability? It doesn't take a lot of time - we don't need to make excellent recordings. It'll be for fun... initially. If Emyli can record vocals, for instance, everybody can write for piano (+ keyboard, melodica, samplers, synths, etc etc) and vocals and we'll do it.

I could be wrong about this, but I think if we start out simple we won't even need to chastise people. Let's begin with projects involving small formations. It's harder to stop the boulder once it has begun to roll. As of now, we have: Emyli - voice Dannyboy - voice, ukulele Me - piano (etc), sequencing, producing Might I ask what type of voice you guys have? It'd be very useful to hear you singing, plus to know your range (S/A/T/B?), plus to know what timbre of voice we'd be dealing with.

This is amazing!!!!
What I think we need right now, though, is the list of people who'd be immediately interested in composing and recording. If nobody else shows up saying what they can play and such here, I'll post a piece for Emyli and Dannyboy - voice and ukulele.
By any chance, does anyone here write lyrics?

I write lyrics too! I'm a mezzo-soprano, btw, wouldn't want to sing above f#/maybe g right above the staff, or below the e that's three lines beneath treble clef. I sing alto I/soprano II in choir if that helps.
I also would be interested in composing something. Currently setting some of my mom's old poetry for piano trio and voice. I've never written for ukulele before!

Great. Then I'll post the score here, probably still on this week. I just have to finish my thesis on my string quartets and I'm good to go!
