Danforth it is!
It's kind of funny how many US/Canadian venues I'm aware of purely from youtube.

I wonder how early people will have to line up in order to get tickets. Aw, this reminds me of the pre-online ticket purchasing days of lineups and wristbands.

Well, the show wasn't that secret I guess. The band thought 200 people would show up, the media told everyone, they though 1500 people would show up. The police estimated 8000 at the end. Crazy.

I've read between 8 and 15,000, which is pretty insane either way. Smaller armies than that have turned wars.
I guess from their point of view it's probably frustrating for something that's supposed to be sneaky and cosy to blow up like that, but then again I get the impression everybody went away happy afterwards so it's hard to feel too sorry for 'em. From what I've seen of the audience, all ages and kinds of people showed up and had a blast, which is pretty awesome.
I mean maybe its my frustrated inner hippy talking, but I think gathering up so many thousand people in one place just to make them have a really fucking good time is a quite remarkable thing to be able to do, or even to want to do. Stuff like that doesn't happen very often, and it's pretty fucking cool.
Willing to bet a couple of thousand of those people will probably remember it for the rest of their lives. Back in my day, Arcade Fire threw free shows in parking lots...

You know, it was really really great to see so many people actually. I kind of wanted it to be secret and all, but at the same time, it was glorious to see so many people gathered for an impromptu performance. Great to see the suburban families, the hipsters and everyone in between just having a great time, singing their hearts out. So, yes, great time was had by everyone.

One thing is for sure Jules, Coldplay outside a Sainsburys just won't be a patch on either.

One thing is for sure Jules, Coldplay outside a Sainsburys just won't be a patch on either. I once saw Paul McCartney busking outside a tube station in London.

What a mess Universal, LIve Nation and TicketMaster have made on the pre-sales for the London show on 7th July. I feel sorry for people who pre-ordered in good faith and got screwed by the corporates.

Their gig in Helsinki last night was wonderful. I didn't expect that I'd be dancing on the stairs of the Helsinki Cathedral but as soon as Arcade Fire started playing I was. What a wonderful evening, indeed.
