Hey guys
That Bell House show was a depressing night for me, would be very happy if, as I requested from the stage, the show remained undocumented. I'd even ask that, if you did make a recording, that you might keep it to yourself and not share it. Typically my attitude toward this stuff is "I don't give a shit about anything." But, since you're asking, I will make the unreasonable request that you allow that moment to vanish into obscurity, the way we all will, in time.
Secondly: Please don't post my private e-mail address. It was public for many years, and many people still have it--and if you do, please don't hesitate to write sometimes--but when my address was public, my inbox got so busy that I spent most of 2006 just replying to e-mails instead of actually doing any writing.
If you want to get my attention, this message board is the best way. I check it once a day. If it's administrative in nature, i.e., can I tape this show?, go through Patrick and he'll take care of you. If it's a private request or something, ask Patrick, he passes me on any important stuff. But don't push your luck with him, either, the little guy is facilitating For Great Justice and thus has some 300 e-mails a day to trawl through.

Understood and documented in the large folder of "what not to do on the internet." It sucks that the tour had to have such an anticlimax...I'm glad I heard it in its prime. Good luck to you and Patrick and Thomas and all.

Well, ok, if this is the best place to ask:
Owen, I wrote a song based on one of your lyrics in "the lyric graveyard" thread. I play regularly at a local coffee shop open mic and you can't play covers there without permission from the artist. Since you wrote part of the lyrics I'm not sure if the song is technically a cover or not. Would it be ok with you if I played it there?

Although some may consider the Bell House show "anticlimatic" and a bad experience, I think it really shone through how talented and considerate Owen is. To be able convert stuff you've been playing on a different instrument in one day and then play that in front of others is impressive. To be willing to play it despite pain, chagrin, disappointment or whatever, speaks highly of a person and their respect for their audience. I hope that night doesn't fade from my memory, or at least not the beautiful parts like Danny's song, which was touching to see Owen regain himself during it from previous frustrations earlier in the set.
