i think i've already mentioned oh-so-many times how i'm an giant mountain goats fan( hell, my youtube account name is a reference to a Wckr Spgt song )...and how in hawaii you dont get to see musicians. 11 - Wonder Ballroom, Portland, OR 21 - the Variety Playhouse, Atlanta, GA ... in November, i have to spend a week in Georgia to visit my grandmum. before heading back and while still on the main land, we were going to stop in Oregon to check out future colleges. we havent gotten to plane tickets yet, all dates are flexible. ... with hardly any planning, one of these could work.(also i got my father rediculiously into john's music! so hes way up for it! ;D) someone help me i cant breathe right now-- (so owens opening for the mountain goats then playing with them?!) --no, really i cant breathe right now.. Jules, thank you.

(yippee!) Ordered my tickets on Saturday (day they became available). Overly excited? Hardly--I can imagine how I'll be in a month or so, yet alone November. -John's last tour with Kaki King birthed the Black Pear Tree EP; brilliant idea, Final Fantasy and Mountain Goats should storm-up a collaboration.. (where Owen sings! ) 3rd person: "Richie, he's just never grateful.."

The answer to your question is: no.
Steph is no longer performing with Final Fantasy. What is the opposite of acrimonious? It's that. We've been working together for five years now, and we'll work together again, but her days as a live projectionist are over.
If you're curious as to "why?" and "whither?" just look for new music videos from Torngat and Junior Boys. And pay attention to Mammalian Diving Reflex. She's far too talented an artist to be tethered to this band.
But there will be something else. And after that, an additional something else.

I won't be able to make the Rifflandia show in Victoria (thank you, LSAT prep course), but I will hypey-hypey-hype the gig on my radio show. Best of luck Owen, I'm very excited for Heartland. mm-razz.blogspot.com

We're old and my wife is pregnant. Can the Seattle show switch to a weekend? ;D
Just kidding. We'll hopefully be there, though.

I mean for me, obviously I'm very happy for her! Such a very talented lady and I'll surely miss the extra magic she brings to your shows. I'm excited for the something else though! And just plain EXCITED!!!

I'm not really sure where to post this, but (hopefully) this is as good a place as any. I just got back from the Final Fantasy/Mountain Goats show in Philadelphia, and I'm just so excited; I need to share! It was absolutely amazing! They played all of the songs I really wanted to hear (The Miner Becomes Forgetful, Lewis Takes Action, Lewis Takes Off His Shirt, and, most notably, The Great Elsewhere! I was so freakin' excited when I realized what it was that I think I may have actually screamed), and some that I didn't even know I wanted to hear (For example, I didn't realize how good Midnight Directives was until I heard it in person).
Thomas is such a wonderful addition to Final Fantasy; I was really happy to finally hear them together. They have such a great rapport onstage, and they blend very well. The only real problem I had was that the audience was very, very Mountain Goats-centric, whereas my siblings and I were really only there for Final Fantasy. It even got to the point where Owen was apologizing for his very presence on the stage, which was kind of upsetting. At one point, he asked for requests in the form of tone rather than song titles, and some guy near the back shouted out "MOUNTAIN GOATS." I just about slugged him. There were a certain amount of Final Fantasy fans, or at least polite Mountain Goats fans, but the balance certainly seemed to tip in favor of disrespectful people who made it very clear that they were NOT there for the opening act.
Anyway, after the Final Fantasy set, we made our way to the back of the venue, and ended up right next to Thomas. We had a really lovely conversation with him, and got to mention that not everyone was only there for The Mountain Goats. He may very well be the nicest person I have ever met, even though he and Owen both probably have more of a right to be dismissive than any other musical artists. Overall, the whole experience was really nice, and it seemed like everyone who was there for Final Fantasy (including Owen and Thomas themselves) had a really great time.

That sounds wonderful! I will be in your place in 24 hours, reeling from the Boston show. I hope Owen and Thomas will be just as accessible then as they were for you. I'll be in the same boat as you, screaming for Final Fantasy in a sea of Mountain Goats fans.
Did Owen do any songs with Mountain Goats? I've been hearing reports that he would...I'm wondering if it's worth it to head to the merch table while they go on, see if either of them will be back there.
