I agree with you alot dude.
I mean a band like Bane still has metallic elements to their sound, but you'll find most bands like that these days do.
But there is plenty of good hardcore out there today, real hardcore.
We got plenty of it right here in Vancouver. Go It Alone, Blue Monday, In Stride, Break The Chain plus all the rad bands that are coming out of Bellingham and Seattle as well.
And seriously guys, quit calling moshing "throwing down".

Anyform of dancing at a punk rock or hardcore show has always been called moshing.

Man, I am so out of touch with mainstream rock culture so it doesn't really bother me.
There is this documentary that Mtv put together called the history of the mosh pit.
Now most of it is total garbage but there are some great parts with great footage of old east coast shows and interviews with bands like cro-mags, inside out, crown of thornz, fear, youth brigade, suicidal, circle jerks, sick of it all and more.

a couple of things,
1. That video was most definetly not taken at a real hardcore show, but most def at a fashion metalcore show.
2. to the guy who said something about baneThere is tons of real hardcore around. why don't you dig into the scene instead of only listening to the stuff that is on the bigger labels. I can name ten good solid PUNK hardcore bands in the NW scene alone. (go it alone, shook ones, in stride, ordeal, the answer, champion, sober unit, stop at nothing, the physical challenge, sinking ships... and there are more) I gaurantee that if you like the bands you talked about you will dig at least a couple of these bands.
3.Fuck "throwing down", fuck fashioncore, fuck mtvcore, none of that shit represents the hardcore scene that I am a part of, but it is always the stuff that people reference when they decided to diss on hardcore.
4. if it ain't going "chugga chugga, jud jud jud" keep your fucking feet down and chill kid.

I totally agree that there are still tons of bands around representing the hardcore punk side of things, and I think it's a shame that they're getting lumped in with all this trendy metal that the kids are so worked up about lately. Even alot of bands with a metal sound, but pretty strong roots in old-school harcore, and NYC harcore, are stuck under the same banner as alot of these bands that will be doing something else when "hardcore" isn't the hot new thing anymore.
I don't mean to knock this stuff, because alot of these guys are smoking players, and are just trying to do something positive with themselves, but the whole dancing thing, and the the whole fasion thing is just a bit much for me.
