Dana's still got it right. Good on you dude. Mallcore is a name for the really popular ones that appeal to consumerist kids... hence the whole mall element, you know? Most of it isn't hardcore, some of it (Thursday for example) is post-hardcore. A lot is just cheesy metalcore and the like, and just plain sucks. Whatever, it's way too late, and I'm so incoherent and dumb that it's really not helping my argument.

This is fucking retarded. Why does everthing have to be described in relation to hardcore even if it has none? Thursday is an Emo band. Period. Just because there may be a bit of screaming in their tunes doesn't mean that they have anything to do with hardcore.
Not that it matters anyway. The punk scene is slowly turning into a complete fucking joke. Everybody is so hung up on being part of the right clique, and associating them selves with the right "core". People dig bands based on schtick, and fasion, and bands don't even bother trying to write songs anymore, they just pander to the shitty direction the scene is going, and by doing so, just make matters worse.
People who are the first to go off about how rad hardcore is, and how "there's a history behind it" make me laugh because the word harcore does't mean anything in the context it's being used in these days, and if any of these people had any idea of the real history behind any of this music they would realise that.
I don't want to get down on anymusic that anybody's into, but it just seems to me that more and more, the scene isn't even about music anymore.

sajak, you're right, but you're not at the same time. Thursday is a post-hardcore band, and that's not because they have screaming in their songs. If you read what I'd posted, you would note that emo has a lot of screaming too.
Anyone who's playing in a manner that's more suited to being called catering to a particular audience is no good.
By the way, I know what heavy metal is. I listen to fucking Venom.

People have tried it before you, and just ended up looking silly and getting hit. They're doing it because it's fun as fucking hell. You get a big rush throwing down, believe it or not. I suppose you have a better idea? There's history behind it anyway. rad man, that reminds me of a huge pit at a hardcore show where all the sillies were "throwing down" (a.k.a. "accidently" punch peeps in the face alot) with 3 circles that they pretend they keep it in. kurt would take his pants off and scoot around like on a ride-on lawnmower, or was that ivan drury in even earlier days... yeah, those dudes, same as almost always, get pretty unstoked, esp. when you tell "whoah dude, peace" they get even madder. are these are the same types of people who bomb for peace maybe? at least THEY should have a sense of humour about it. but thats ok, everyone has thier silly clubs that they need to be apart of. im just glad mine is so far more superior. anyways, if you DO get naked in there, you will look rad, not silly, and youd probably get hit anyways so giver. so go on with the history behind it, bro...

Something I've never seen but would love to so much is naked stage dives. Actually someday I'm gonna do it.

haha. Nothing wrong with naked. My reference was just to kids who want to run into a pit at a hardcore show thinking they'll just own everyone, and usually end up getting a couple fists to the face unintentionally. If everyone's looking out for eachother, nobody gets hurt. Hardcore dancing isn't about punching people in the face, either. I don't hit people at hardcore shows, and I don't like getting hit either.
The kind of guys you're talking about are usually just macho fucks. In Vancouver we don't really have many fortunately. Any scene can suck if the wrong kind of people get involved. Chad and plenty of others can back me up on all of this. I'm probabally the most out of place at hardcore shows out of anyone, but I don't get a hard time from anyone. I used to feel really uncomfortable, but that was primarily in my head. Anywhere somewhat new feels awkward at first.
If you think I support any of that kind of behaviour, I'm not who you think I am.
