Anyone seen any good shows lately? I saw Do Make Say Think at the Starlight last night! They are such an incredible band...I like to define whether music is good or less-good by how emotionally engaging it is, and DMST made me stand still and smile with my whole face and listen with my whole head. Annnd the conductor of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony was there! Edwin Outwater! He came to give a talk at my school on Monday, and it was pretty awesome, and gave some very solid answers to things that have been bothering me. Like, "Is modern "classical" music any good?" And when he told us he was going to be at the DMST concert, there was a small ripple of excitement. I was going to buy him a beer, but didn't spot him until the show was over and I was heading out. And then I found five dollars.

I saw DMST with Final Fantasy last summer (I do go to other shows, I swear), and I agree; they are incredible. Although I'll say I only thoroughly enjoyed their live set...what I've heard recorded doesn't sound as great.
And finding money is always fun! Especially when it is in bill-form!

Anyone seen any good shows lately? "Is modern "classical" music any good?" What's your opinion on modern classical music? I'm not in the best state of mind to have an opinion, I just woke up after a bottle of wine rendered me motionless listening to phantom of the opera...

my fiancé really likes Crystal Castles and is ashamed of me for never having heard of them before because they are apparently an 'it' band right now. but unlike him, I have limited access to teh intarwebz and *don't* get paid to stand around reading the NME that spacesounds website was interesting, until i got completely distracting by the whale(!) sounds. ...i really should be working on my dissertation...

Oh and NME is evil. What kind of wasteoid excuse for a magazine creates a cool list and makes Pete Doherty a hero? They do, they do... I just pictured NME writers sitting around a table, like the Stonecutters in that episode of The Simpsons. "Who makes Pete Doherty a star? we do! we do!" Tv isn't all bad. This is my first year at university with a television and I spend three hours a day watching wonderfully melodramatic Mexican and Columbian telenovelas. I skip class for them! ...er... maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that last part. "I think I gave up on tv after the creation of such mind-numbing, hyperreal crap like Big Brother." hahahaha I never watched BB when I lived in the States, but my first experience with UK BB was Nikki www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8VNQ5V2yiIand.she.is.quality.viewing. fact. hehehe

HAHAHA YES!!! *shakes hand* you got my simpsons reference I've watched a grand total of like 4 episodes of BB and It was super dire, I don't find arrogant, obnoxious and moronic people endearing or interesting in any way whatsoever . Urgh dear lord that vile excuse for a female should have been voted off into the moat with crocodiles, sharks, and other various creatures with really sharp teeth- possibly margaret thatcher... "I can feel the venom pouring out of me as I breathe" that's just the fake tan seeping out of your skin my dear... I'm really glad people don't act like that in real life, I'd have a really difficult time going outside... www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kPjjQ7ZLg0&feature=related this is so scary... I think... I think I'm scared to go outside in case I should ever run into this lady in a dark alley... I got many many strange looks today in the library, one of those fun cords that you pull to turn off/on the lights happened to be dangling and me being the strange catlike freak that I am spent about 5 minutes lying on my back with my humiliated friend Nida batting the cord about with my paws... img222.imageshack.us/img222/9628/img00022vv9.jpgOh do you like Mitchell and Webb? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dvmf_C8GSFE spot the violin

I'll say, I wouldn't like being picked up and launched at someone's face, although sadly I HAVE been used as a projectile because I'm compact and tiny, that and most of my friends are freakishly tall... What amazing adventures did you get up to today?
