I love the valley, Ohhhhhh! I will never be able to listen to that song with a straight face again. And I just learned it all on guitar too.

there are strong elements of homosexuality and mental illness in the music... likely a thread on how many fans had serious mental problems would garner a good bunch of us to raise our hands and show some scars. it's certainly where i come from and by which i enjoy the xiu...
though one needn't be either...

brooklyn dodgers brian the vampire (though its not about an amorous relationship as we all know) sad pony guerrilla girl (there is clearly a duplicitous sexuality there, and not necessarily relevant, but JS's nick-name was "Sad Pony Girl") fag patrol (as an album title) the cover to a promise is emblazoned with the photograph of a gay prostitute
in terms of the other second-person songs without pronouns (ie. bunny gamer, and others) the gender of the addressed is often ambiguous.

i thought 'brooklyn dodgers' was about jamie's cousin who moved to new york? jamie felt bad because he wasn't very close to him. i remember reading that somewhere.
but i could see it as a story about two young boys, and one boy is scared of being gay and leaves the other boy.

one can read into the lyrics where there are no obvious genders, or vague suggestions of gender, and attribute those involved as gay. that jamie has writen previously of homosexuality invites one to do so rather easily, though if he'd never done so or if he writes something with a clear heterosexual couple you can still read into the lyrics for gayness....
i believe there is a bit in the fan interview where he and caralee talk about how they relate to the songs and perhaps what they mean. there is still alot left up her and she talks about this being important. this vagueness contributes add to why the songs are so intense. each of us must add from our own feelings to fill in the meanings. if ones experiences, loves, and anguishes involves lots of cock then you'll be colouring in those gaps with a phallic shaped crayon... perhaps caralee can rock out to that or perhaps she thinks of it differently....
as such there isn't much of a point to go through each song and catagorize them as being ----- or ~~~~~

agreed--the idea being that sexuality is clearly a motif, in all its manifestations. jamies songs arent all that often written about romantic homosexual relations due to the fact that jamie isnt writing songs about romantic relationships. however homosexuality and bisexuality are clearly important motifs.

I always thought the beehive was just a general pain. I assumed it was a spanking from a stern father, honest to god.

not mentioned yet: yellow raspberry is about sexuality. saturn makes mention of it. in saturn, he says "i will stab it right through the bottom of your mouth. you will taste what we taste." ya know? stick a cock in bush's mouth? jamie also mentions sticking it in his anus. i'm too lazy to move and get the lyrics.
