That sleeve for the demo album is GORGEOUS... I've been thinking about getting into casual record collecting for a while, but never did (mostly because a lot of my favorite albums are pretty expensive on discogs now, haha). I decided to take the plunge and preorder this because I would definitely kick myself down the line if I missed out on that demo LP! And thus begins the slippery slope. Super excited though... the remasters are getting eventual physical releases as well, right? Maybe my meager record collection will expand quicker than I thought...

I’m down the slippery slope as well. I’m not a vinyl nerd even though I have hundreds from the 70’s and 80’s when I woz young, but luckily for me my son is so I’ll buy it for him and a cd for me. At least that way I can admire the artwork and enjoy the demos and the LP won’t just end up in another box.

www.secretcityrecords.com/shop/island-2/This is probably my favorite piece about Owen's work I've ever read, so I figured I'd share. A quick, somewhat unrelated thought about Heartland and gender... Lewis as a representation of unattainable masculinity (as Owen discussed in the NPR worldcafe interview) makes a trans reading of Heartland very compelling. I've already mused on Heartland as a metaphor for the relationship between art and artist. The process of creating art often feels analogous to the process of transitioning. (admittedly that's an optimistic framework-- it's most often in my experience more like scribbling on one canvas for your whole life with no "undo" button-- but I guess that's just being a person, and still art, anyway.) Just thought I'd mention that, too.

I thought about it & hit "order" pretty immediately. I'm really excited for it, especially because I think Island is going to work so well on vinyl. But also oooh demos. www.secretcityrecords.com/shop/island-2/This is probably my favorite piece about Owen's work I've ever read, so I figured I'd share. Love these thoughts & I bet you'd love the world cafe interview/concert (in the other thread too -- there's a little more elaboration on some of the stuff in the secret city copy)

Maybe my meager record collection will expand quicker than I thought... I cannot recommend highly enough the Orchid Tapes repressing of Les Mouches' album. It's the most gorgeous record sleeve/wax I've ever held in my hands. If you can find one, snatch it up!

They arrived this morning.., yeah. Love the demos and the packaging. Oh happy day. Ohhh I'm jealous!!! There's no sign of mine yet, hopefully it'll be delivered tomorrow! I had to get the vinyl sent to my parents' house (because Royal Mail decided to assign me a "local" parcel office miles away that I can't get to) and I won't be there til Saturday, but maybe the CD will come tomorrow!

I got a mail from Domino today saying the CD is missing the 2 bonus tracks and they will sort out soon. I should really have checked my copy but I’ve been concentrating on the demos so it not been used. Rare collectors edition I guess now.
