Hey everyone! The Mountain Goats are doing a Dungeons and Dragons themed promotional album that’s releasing in April, and Owen is apparently the producer? The subject matter is a nice callback to He Poos Clouds... perhaps this is where he vanished to as of late  |

That's exciting, I love the Mountain Goats  Glad to see this forum's still active despite all the spam! I first heard the new songs in 2015 and I've been desperate for this album ever since... it'll definitely be worth the wait! Perseverance of the Saints is the one song I've never heard, I hope a recording surfaces soon! I'm also really interested in what happens in what I assume is the second half of the album. "Fire-mare" really sounds like a turning point to me. I'd expect that the tone remains more somber, but I think there's possibilities of other directions. The setlists at this point transition into old songs so it's really a /mystery/.

I wonder if the lyrics thread Owen posted is the final tracklist? I'll be sad if Vengeance has been scrapped, but maybe it doesn't fit the new sound. I'm also curious to hear A Bloody Morning, as far as I know he's never played that live. And I wonder if the arrows are instrumental songs?

I know the Elbphilharmonie Concert from 2017 has a couple of his new songs on there, maybe one of the ones you've mentioned is in there? Paragon of Order, Fire-Mare, and Lewis Gets Fucked Into Space (along with a few acoustics from this concert) are on youtube too. |

I was at the Elbphilharmonie show (it was so gorgeous! ), the new songs he played were Transformer, Paragon Of Order, The Sound of the Engine, Lewis Gets Fucked Into Space, Fire Mare and Polar Vortex. He also did Perseverance of the Saints in Canada last year, We Went Criminal in Japan in 2017 and In Darkness, Vengeance and Lewis Takes A Breather at the 2015 German shows (I don't think he's played those 3 since but In Darkness is in the lyrics thread). That's been all as far as I know! There's a video of We Went Criminal on youtube, it's not in the lyrics thread and I don't think he's played it since so I don't know if it'll be on the album |

You were THERE?! Lucky!! From what I watched, it seemed like an absolutely gorgeous show. I would kill to see him live, here's to hoping he tours when Island is released! Also, can I just say there's something absolutely poetic about people awaiting any scrap of news about Island finding solidarity in a single thread, in a nearly forgotten forum filled to the brim with spam posts? I wish Owen were around to see this, he'd probably appreciate the absurdity of it all |

Same with me, have not checked this board for quite a long time, there was just so much spam... so much superbowl! Always just been lurking but - maybe this can become a sort of wake-up-thread though? - calling all lurkers to get an account and hibernators maybe come out of there if you feel like! On the topic of this thread: Waiting a bit longer is not always that bad Hoping there will be a tour around Europe&UK when it finally comes out (so now it makes sense to put that / in that place where I put the &..), will it affect the release? I guess so.) |

Yes, it was the most incredible night - the show was gorgeous and so was the venue <3 And the Elbphilharmonie was actually on an Island I'm from Scotland but it was so worth the trip I also went to the 3 German shows in 2015 where he premiered the new songs (I've been gradually visiting every German city thanks to Owen  ), so I've known them for a while... I decided Island was already my favourite album 3 and a half years ago even though I haven't heard it yet I hope you manage to see him soon, he's incredible live! Haha yes, I'd been checking here every so often but thought this forum had died because of all the spam - it's really nice to see other people eagerly awaiting news! Yes I hope he comes back to Europe again soon, I miss his shows so much! (Although I have a lot going on at the moment so I would not object if he waited a little bit longer ) Last time I saw him it sounded like there'd be more shows soon, but now it's been nearly 2 years again. But I'm sure there'll be some shows once the album is released |

I've been gradually visiting every German city thanks to Owen Ah, that's so nice to hear Hope you had good times with us! Been to the Elbphilharmonie concert too. Music great as usual but the sound somehow did not do it for me -from my seat at least. I know, new shiny concert hall and all.. so I'm not supposed to say that.. - classic German, right?! ..saying all the wrong things  Very much looking forward to any concert wherever now anyhow! |

Carlo, that video had me dying That is EXACTLY how I feel. By the way, this is Owen's last Island related post from his Instagram... are we thinking it's a new album cover? He updated his story earlier and I SCRAMBLED to find out if it was any new information but it was just about doing the arrangement for something else, which then reminded me of the existence of this picture... |
