Thank you for the videos!!
So, uh... Scandal is a Heartland story, right? Is there a transcription of the lyrics anywhere? I hear talk of cabbages.

Thanks so much for that recording Jules. Sounds/looks awesome.
As for the lyrics, there have been guesses in the past, but nothing solid. I love singing along, but am never sure what that word is... I don't think it's cabbages, but something very similar. To me it sounds like "caddages", but that's obviously not a word.
I really hope the Great White Noise records this one day.

Hm, I can't remember specifically. I'm short, brownish hair, fringe, etc etc, wearing a plaid shirt and cardi. Anyway, what did you make of the show and the infernal support act? PS. There ought to be a rule about tall people not being allowed at the front... I didn't mind Next Life actually, I've been exposed to far too wide a range of music to judge purely on genre. I was surprised how many people either didn't know there was a support act, or had no clue who they were, am I the only person to be sad enough to do research before hand? and pshhh I was in line 30 mins before doors were due to open

The line is "All that they want to burn down are cottages, cottages" at least that's my best shot at the lyrics for now.

I always heard "All that they have are carriages, carriages, batten them down," but I'm really terrible at deciphering lyrics.
Either way, I am so insanely pleased that he's playing this again. Also, I must admit that I got a little bit giddy when the song started and I realized that he hadn't made any major changes.

I those were the lyrics that I favoured as well, well at least those were the ones I was mouthing that night I just always pictured it as some sort of Dick Turpin thing, carriages racing through a forrest, but the lyrics are so tricky that's probably ALL in my head

Instead I arrived just in time to catch their entire set. I don't mind because Owen more than made up for that, but when you compare that to Lightspeed Champion, Nico Muhly, Sam Amidon and Beth Orton supporting when I saw him at Union Chapel in Jan...

I have to agree that concert was one of the most memorable experiences in my life (sad I know) But you have to remember it was fitting the venue(s) concerned as well, I think both choices for support reflected that.
And in next life's defence, for the music they produce, they're damn good at it :')

I suppose so, I just can't stand their style of music, no matter how good they are at it. I agree about the venues thing, Koko is very different to Union Chapel, and I'm glad I got to go to both.

And just for the record, even standing was more comfortable that sitting in a pew for 2-3 hours >.< This is clearly why I'm an atheist!

'their entire set' lasted fifteen minutes! i can only imagine what you'd have made of the acts playing with owen when he organised the maximum black festival

Maximum Black was great (Dirty Projectors! Frog Eyes! Owen!), except for that cello chappy and his friend who were, and I wasn't alone in thinking this, self-indulgent and unlistenable.
But with normal gigs, like Koko, a support act is just a support act, so it's not like they ruined the gig for me or anything like that.
