I'll add my voice to the "SCANDAL AT THE PARKADE FFFFFFFFFFFF" choir. There had best be digital documentation. There is, but in a few days

Jules, I can say without hyperbole that you are the best of everything, every time, everywhere.

Jules, I can say without hyperbole that you are the best of everything, every time, everywhere. I was going to go with "best anything ever," but that works, too.

There is, but in a few days You awful, cruel, wonderful tease. It's not teasing, it's lack of time. I have bundles of stuff from the last 3 nights and haven't had any time to do anything. I'm literal half way out the door for tonights show. I'll do my best to post some of the better clips during the week. Mostly likely Tuesday.

Just got back from my London adventure which started with OP's gig and ended with sushi with a day of board/card games in a Brixton pub inbetween ;D. A near-perfect weekend, haha..!
I can't get over how different that gig was to the Union Chapel. How loud and distorted and overdriven it was. I was squeezed up at the front but now with hindsight I think the sound would've been better further away. A lot of the textures and timbres and intricacies were lost by comparison to Union Chapel. It was still cool, but very, very different. On the whole I preferred the Heartland stuff at Koko, and the older stuff at the UC. The run section from Midnight Directives >> Lewis Takes Action was amazing. UC felt 'unplugged' by comparison, and on the whole I preferred that. But it was good to see him rocking out...
Anyway, I shouldn't compare them, I guess. Just really surprised how different they were.
And the support act was a bit like having a stroke in a car factory during the apocalypse. Although I kinda enjoyed (or, appreciated) it as a new experience, I was relieved when it finished (and I still had some of my hearing left)

Tall, blackish hair, fringe etc etc right on the barrier, wearing quite a large jumper

Sorry to be superficial but Owen's top was marvelous, anybody know who it's by?/where it's from?

Tall, blackish hair, fringe etc etc right on the barrier, wearing quite a large jumper Hm, I can't remember specifically. I'm short, brownish hair, fringe, etc etc, wearing a plaid shirt and cardi. Anyway, what did you make of the show and the infernal support act? PS. There ought to be a rule about tall people not being allowed at the front...

Yeah, it was a pretty awesome gig (at the end of an awesome week: Magnetic Fields, Hidden Cameras and Owen!). 'Scandal at the Parkade' was pretty exciting, as were 'Independence Is No Solution' and 'Fantasy' as I've never seen those live before (this was the 7th (?) time I've seen him live).
It's a good thing Owen is so good, because the support band were truly appalling. So I bad that I felt like they had to be a joke, some sort of Canadian-musical-arty-elite joke that no one else gets...
