The Boston setlist was very well balanced, and had a lot of material for old fans, newbies, and geeks who've already heard Don't Stop the Party on My Account.
Just...we should make sure everyone in the request a song thread knows.

Well, the setlists I've been seeing lately are all pretty awesome... I don't see the problem!

Ah the set list for the Philly show was perfect. Such a fantastic show with a great mix of old and new songs as always. I can't give you an order or anything but if anyone wrote it down for some reason or another, post!

you're very welcome! it was a fantastic show; i was hoping that he would be playing some of the selections from heartland that he hadn't played on the mountain goats tour, but i can't complain. especially when one takes into account how great that performance of this lamb sells condos was.
hopefully the hiccup mediafire seems to be having with the audio recording rectifies itself by tomorrow; otherwise, i'll probably just re-upload it.

Atlanta (April 27, 2010), The E.A.R.L.
Totally not in order:
E is for Estranged This is the Dream of Win & Regine Scandal at the Parkade Midnight Directives Keep the Dog Quite > Mt. Alpentine That's When the Audience Died He Poos Clouds The Great Elsewhere Many Lives for 49 MP Independence is No Solution for Modern Babies Oh Heartland, Up Yours! (!!!!) *Question Time, which lead into an impromptu cover* Can You Feel the Love Tonight (Lion King) Flare Gun The Butcher Lewis Takes Action Lewis Takes Off His Shirt
Encore: No Cars Go (Arcade Fire) The CN Tower Belongs to the Dead
Notes of the show:
- Beautiful as usual. Best I've personally seen Owen - He stated 'Scandal' was about all of the members of Digital Underground trying to get together and destroy Humpty. hahaha. - Midnight Directives and 'Dog' both sounded perfect. Was blown away by how they translated live. - Can You Feel the Love tonight was quite funny and amazing. The girl who requested it though seemed like she was trying to turn the concert into a Elton John cover night. She was very persistent that Owen admit his love of Elton's music and then cover songs by him. Kinda annoying. - Re: No Cars Go. While nice to hear, Owen didn't seem to pleased to be playing it. One adamant audience member kept asking for it, so he lovingly did it in the encore. But he kept mentioning that he didn't want to do it because he did not want it uploaded on the internet and thrown about everywhere. So, I hope the audience is kind enough and does not upload it to YouTube (or here). Like I said - beautiful cover, just feel bad that the main requests yelled at the show were non-Owen Pallet songs. Oh well.
Finally: What's the story behind 'Independence'? I loooooved the song, and see it mentioned elsewhere (ie not here) that it is a cover, but no one seems to know about the original. Never even heard of the song until tonight, but I hope it stays part of heavy rotation, because it was amazing.

Oh, and Thomas is the perfect addition. He just fits in so nicely. Feels like Owen found his own personal 'Dosh' like Andrew Bird has.

Never even heard of the song until tonight, but I hope it stays part of heavy rotation, because it was amazing. The original version was written by Thomas Sehl who recorded it as Sylvester Boy on the album "Monsters Rule This World" released in 2000. A cover was on the last The Blankkett (Steve Kado) album "Pegatively Nositive" released in 2009. Owen's cover is closer to Kado's version than the original, but that doesn't mean it a cover of a cover.

For the Austin show tonight the setlist was really similar to most of what he's been playing everywhere else.
Except he started the night with Cliquot. ;D
And he also played Please Please Please after first saying he wouldn't and then right before he did saying that he hated himself for what he was about to do.
