10. "I Had Four Peanuts for Breakfast from..." (I have no idea what this was, some cover, he stopped after about a minute) This was a Mountain Goats song, the name of which escapes me for the moment.

10. "I Had Four Peanuts for Breakfast from..." (I have no idea what this was, some cover, he stopped after about a minute) This was a Mountain Goats song, the name of which escapes me for the moment. It is a Mountain Goats song, "Alpha Omega" off of "Protein Source of the Future... Now!" The line goes "I had boiled peanuts for breakfast from Cairo, Georgia." names, excellent memory from a pretty obtuse reference! Are you a Mountain Goats fan, too, or did Owen announce it at the show? (BTW, I'm super excited that he's covering some of John's stuff now. This is a meeting of two of my favorite things, and seeing them on stage together was so wounding.)

One of my friends is nuts about Mountain Goats, but no, Owen was playing requests and somebody requested he bust out some MG action.
I'm hoping somebody got a decent recording of the show, because it was freaking great, but again, the Mountain Goats cover was aborted fairly early on 'cause he was trying it out on the fly, and it didn't quite take.

names, do you know if that 3rd song was actually The Man With No Ankles? Haven't listened to the mp3 from the thread yet.

I'll be giving it a shot on Sunday evening, heading up to Belfast for the weekend! He's only played Independence is No Solution and The Man With No Ankles from (I assume) his next recording so far, has there been any other songs aired? I can't remember all the songs from previous posts and I'm in work, so I should actually be doing some real work instead of that

Independence is No Solution is a cover of a cover so not an Owen original. He's played quiet a few times, but I've not yet heard it live, so hopefully it will be aired (as well as Alpha Omega) at at lest one of the UK shows next week.

He did Alpha Omega with some dude called John Darnielle on vocals a couple years back at the show in Melbourne. That was a win.

It must be difficult because you want some variety so people going to both tonights don't see a nearly identical show. But at the same time you don't want peopl nly going to one to miss out on seeing the more popular songs.

Did anyone get a copy of the setlist or anything for the second show?
