an interesting review, but wrong in respect to "Keep the Dog Quiet" which is one of the most consequential tracks on the recording

Kinda right in respect to "What Do You Think Will Happen Now" though. I felt like that song pretty much exists to get the talkin' done. (Although the last phrase is a perfect ending for the album.)
But Philip Glass operas? What? I would not say that Heartland sounds much like Philip Glass. Perhaps that is my ignorance talking, though.

boring review.... overwrought, not very informative.
I can't stand reading music reviews because i always hear the author in the backround being like, "ohh did you catch that wordplay i used? I'm so clever... Oh here's another device coming up...!"

I'm more surprised about the Tryst With Mephistopheles comment though. That's my favorite song on Heartland. What Do You Think Will Happen Now? might not be the most interesting song, but it works as a great way to sum the album up, which is pretty necessary for an intense (and emotional intense) album like Heartland, imo. I think it's a really good song as well. I love when it builds up at "but all the same, I know I can describe it."

I wasn't sure if the reviewer had got the story line sequential or not when discussing the farmers relationship with god the owen

A friend once said "When something you love gets reported on, it becomes painfully obvious how stupid the journalist is."

I suppose it's unrealistic to expect others to care about the same things we do with the same amount of intensisty and precision, but with that in mind I suppose it's kind of weird that it's the job of a critic to care about things. What a depressing job.
On the bright side: yet another positive review!

"Still, I'm betting Heartland singularly fails to disgruntle the old guard".. is perhaps the dumbs comment to make.. why should the old guard want to be digruntled?

www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/rvrjI give this review a four out of ten. Eight out of ten if it was a troll. I disagree that He Poos Clouds was childish, and I discovered Owen's music even being the musical recluse I am; didn't take no advert for that. (Note: This is a positive review, but a poorly written one)

Here's the one in this weeks NME.. it displays ignorance by suggesting the length of time taken was excessive, when in fact it was more delayed by doing the projects that the review is sing his praise about. Also obvious that the press blurb is being used as well. Never mind we know better. NME Heartland Review

I think the one thing I have learnt so far is that nobody can agree on the stand out tracks. I think the journos are having a problem with the fact that you can't just listen and review. The more you listen the more it unfolds and the more you get out.
