Soooo, just a short review of yesterday's concert - it was amazing!! The show was a bit delayed, because Owen arrived late from Portugal...and he just had one hour of sleep So, at 7 p.m when the doors should have opened, he still did the soundcheck...I didn't mind, it was nice to hear Anyway, around 8 o'clock the show started, Owen entered the stage and started playing... I had goosebumps from the beginning until the end of the show. After a few songs Thomas joined him on stage. Both seemed to have a good time on stage, Owen announced Thomas with the words: "That's Thomas. He's an asshole, but really easy on the eye....which means he's quite good-looking." And after some songs both of them were laughing (for example after "Lewis takes action"). I took some pics and my boyfriend recored some videos... After the show Owen came back to sign some stuff and take pictures...I felt like a stalker, but I got his signature on my "heartland" booklet and a picture with him...I hope he was able to get some sleep tonight I got the setlist: www.flickr.com/photos/groovie1/4430961521/though the encore changed. He played "Independance is no solution" and "Fantasy" instead CN and 2YRS www.flickr.com/photos/groovie1/4431727880/in/photostream/-> a good shot Videos: Honour the dead or else: www.youtube.com/watch?v=07DygOZmPE8Independance is no solution: www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4GniftJTAkDid anybody go to his DJ gig??? I wish I could have gone, but I wasn't able to sounds like you had a good time... tell me, in the set list, which song is BTW? ^^

So, about the Portugal shows... The First One was everything I was so expectant to see (afterall, it'd been years of waiting), a great performance, really good sound, loops everywhere you turned, screaming into violins...i was so fucking mesmerized! The bass was amazing, the whole theatre was shaking! That might actually be the moment I remember best, of that night, when Owen played the bassline of Love Song To An Empty Room... Anyway, everyone thought it was a brilliant show. However, Owen didn't seem to enjoy it at all. The Second One was everything I wanted. I mean, the day before had been amazing but the setlist was lacking something...I don't know what, really. This night's higlights were definitely Took You Two Years To Win My Heart, Song Song Song and The Man With No Ankles (plus, he played Fantasy, which was a really nice surprise!). Besides, Owen seemed much happier and made some jokes about cheese. I thought we (the audience) were great as well, but then again, I was totally entranced. On the way out I got the *supposedly* last Spectrum EP they had, and that was the perfect ending for a perfect night. (Oh! and Doom Gothic Metal band opened the show. I had loads of fun with that!) The Third Show stands somewhere between the other two (plus, it wins in less enthusiastic audience - me included, I was really tired from traveling). I brought my family with me this time and got see a bit of the sound check (owen was messing around with the amps, playing his songs through an insane distortion). Again, the setlist was much better than the first time, Lewis Takes Off His Shirt being the song that stands out in my memory. Still, I missed Owen screaming "Let me just finish this song!"...it didn't feel like the real thing haha He was looking tired, though, and apparently had to be on a flight really early (which he missed, right?). I got to meet him, afterwards, and they're supposed to return to Portugal in...July I think, to Manta Festival, which, if confirmed, will be bloody brilliant! I also met Thomas, who was super friendly. I must say, Owen is seriously underusing him in the live show, I mean, he's such a brilliant musician! I got his CD too and highly recommend it to everyone - most of what I've been hearing these days is SelfHelp, which is great 'cause I was actually needing something to replace Heartland! I took a few pictures but I screwed up when developing the film (it was my first time doing it alone :x) and there wasn't much I could salvage. However, if you enjoy fucked up photography, here's them: one, two, three, four, five, six!

I'm hoping to get Thomas cd when they play in UK next week .. I'm already far too excited.

the way the developing went wrong, it looks kind of like fog, which is pretty sweet.

I don't understand how they can travel like they do and still have energy to put on great shows. I hope they're not too worn out by the time they make it over to the U.S.

It makes me happy to think that right now, people in Prague are sleeping after having had one of the best nights ever. I really love that.

The duo are amazing.

Owen was on phenomenal form tonight, I have to say, although the crowd were a little bit more reserved than I saw them at his last Whelan's date. I suspect because there were a lot of tender post-Paddy's Day heads in the audience. When he opened up for weird requests, I wanted to call for either Cliquot or No Cars Go, but my accent is humiliatingly unforgiving to the former and I couldn't elude the sense that the latter would be bad form. If that was you who called for Two Years.. yevveh, you must have been to my front and right, I think? Better Than Worse was absolutely incredible.

agree with names, the crowd in whelan's were very subdued last night. very little singing along to any of the songs which is a first for a whelan's gig.
i thought the set list was fantastic, delighted to hear both 'song, song, song' and 'better than worse', i hadn't heard him play either of those live in ages.
owen himself seemed to be in great form and his interaction with thomas was pretty amusing
the guy who shouted 'freebird' was just embarrassing
