I meant real instruments - no idea why I communicated it so badly, sorry. I actually really the clarity of the arrangement as it is

There was an Steampunk art exhibition here in Oxford this year... don't s'pose you saw it? No! That sounds amazing though - is it gone now? I've been seeking out steampunk stuff to look at in museums in london - I went to the maritime timekeeping exhibit in the Greenwich observatory with all the crazy timepieces the other day, and I'm gonna check out the steam engines in the science museum later this week. As I said, obsession

Haha . No, the Steampunk exhibition is over. They had some cool stuff though - Tim Burtonesque sculptures of steampunk-ish characters, little spiders and creatures, machines, clothing - one time they had people down dressed in all their gear - a computer keyboard made to look like a typewriter <3 . It was only a small exhibition though - just one corridor really - but very cool. www.mhs.ox.ac.uk/steampunk ... PS. There's a fun iPhone steampunk game called "COGS" if you're that way inclined. I guess I'm a little into my steampunk too ^_o

I'm hoping to record strings (violin/viola/cello/bass - but probably separately), trumpet, and clarinet for both songs all in the space of about seven hours on one day .

Can I be excited about something for a second? It's done it's done it's done it's done it's done it's done! I definitely stole the fan-folded cover idea from Blocks

Ben, this is such a lovely cover! I especially liked the layering towards the end, it's simply beautiful! As an accordion/trumpet player who has failed at covering Beirut many times, you are my hero. Thanks! I've been travelling for a week and it was nice to get back to such encouragement! I'm going to post another cover soon, of Say Hi To Your Mom. And Scarychips, yes that would certainly be possible, but I'm very slow at using Sibelius so I can't promise it'll be too soon. heathenpoet, neptune, @ren: Your tracks are all amazing. The standard of music put out by the three of you is noticeably developing and improving into something extraordinary.

As I said, obsession Oh yeah. I was so distracted by Esther's post that I forgot what I was going to say. A few days ago I didn't even know what Steampunk was; now I'm obsessed. I had been flirting with the idea of dressing up for my street performances, and now I want to go complete steampunk. Is this a lame idea?
