I've started writing out This Lamb Sells Condos ... I can't read sheet music, so I have to learn it by ear. What I've learned is SO HARD! Owen must have large hands, or something.

Golden, learning to read sheet music is not that hard! Especially if you're good enough at piano to learn this lamb sells condos by ear! And yeah, I'm physically incapable of some parts of that song too. I have little hands

Hey, so respect for writing it out yourself, but Owen gave us his "party version" a while ago if you'd like the easy way out! www.mediafire.com/?ndy1wmymrly

Hahaha, you guys are too sweet! Alyssa - I basically print the lyrics and then write chords/stuff that helps me remember, and play it until I memorize it. Hey, it works. Emyli - I took about 8 years of piano lessons and never picked up how to read sheet music for some reason. Well, I can read it, but I have to do it note by note, so it takes a long time. Learning by ear is much quicker for me! Even if I didn't learn how to sight read, I did get a lot of practice from taking lessons for such a long time, so it makes it easier to learn things (like Owen!) by ear. Ren - Thanks! I've printed that out as a guideline. It's nice to have the man himself on the forum to give things to you! Owen is the best. On another note, here's a version of Your Light is Spent on piano. It's sloppily done, and probably not worth sharing, but I guess we post anything and everything Owen Pallett related here, so here goes! www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVZWFwApPbM&feature=email

golden: the your light is spent cover isn't rough at all! Only thing is that on the main "verse" part, you play E B B, I think it's D# B B some of the time, like in the outro. Please do more.

Thanks, Alyssa! That is so so kind of you. I definitely see what you mean about the D# bit. I love the dissonance of that part of the song. How genius. I may post more when I grow another arm to do the melody of "E is for Estranged."

I've worked out a half-convincing cover of The Butcher for toy piano... my toy piano only has white notes, so it only works in e-minor (which is more like D#-minor as it's so out of tune) and it's a little simplified. I'm going to try it at an open mic night on Thursday ;D

I'm exactly this same at this! I usually don't mention it though, because people assume I can't play at all. It's like my dark secret. About two months ago I actually sat down in an attempt to figure it all out and it took like... an hour... I can't believe I never bothered before. And now I'm just learning to read as fast as possible so one day I can sight-read properly. But it sounds like you have a much better ear than I ever will, I needed some sheet music to learn Lambs
