Today I had and passed a telephone interview for a job at Harrods, went for a drink with my friend who I haven't seen in ages, and also messaged my ex who I haven't messaged in six months. I am a fool and this is the small talk thread and this is small talk.

I'm lying in bed half-naked with part of my non-monogomous chosen family after a mostly vegan thanksgiving, and everything's pretty good.

Are we all saying what we're doing? I'm about to make up a powerpoint about BDSM for a fibres class tomorrow whilst wearing a harness thing I made to turn my body into a loom for a couple of weeks as i weave myself into a corset. It's not very fun to sleep in. I am a weird human.

Can you please send me a pic of that? I'm seriously curious and a little aroused now I've been getting into the wintery spirit by cracking out my three favourite winter albums: Midwinter Graces by Tori Amos, 50 Words for Snow by Kate Bush and A Christmas Cornucopia by Annie Lennox... so now I'm just hiding under my desk with a nice big mug of hot chocolate, just applied for a job teaching English over in Japan and my mum started crying because she's terrified I'm going to die over there or get lost on the way... I think we're all freaks here, but whats wrong with that? I just did that weird thing where I accidentally bit down and had a very uncomfortable experience in my teeth, like I might have bit them out of my mouth... Man I love Kate Bush and how her style's progressed.

the documentation of this is so very naked, so i might send you an edited version, my dearest pauly wolly. Unless I end up just putting the documentation on my art website thingy or something but I'm presently undecided for internet presence for this project.
I want to drink hot chocolate under your desk with you <3. best.

I've been getting into the wintery spirit by cracking out my three favourite winter albums: Midwinter Graces by Tori Amos, 50 Words for Snow by Kate Bush and A Christmas Cornucopia by Annie Lennox... so now I'm just hiding under my desk with a nice big mug of hot chocolate, just applied for a job teaching English over in Japan and my mum started crying because she's terrified I'm going to die over there or get lost on the way... Man I love Kate Bush and how her style's progressed. Yay for winter music! I can't even tell you how long ago I started diving into this winter season... (Oh man, the big things that are store!) Paul, what album of Bush's should I dive into first? I've never given it an honest chance yet dispit it's reoccurrence and relevance. Pgirls did an ep cover of her songs even, at least I think so...

I'm applying for an internship at this music publisher www.schott-music.com/Owen, should I put you down as a reference? Seriously tho, I have no idea how to write a cover letter that explains how much I love music and how I want to get into publishing (What else can you do with an English degree) and how perfect it would be. So I'm trying to marry the two, and fit in somewhere that I wrote a dissertation about Heartland (sorry to mention it again, I feel like Willam in season 4 of RPDR when he keeps mentioning that he was on sex on the city) and that I can't stop listening to that Azealia Banks that references 80s Drag culture because I've become so fascinated with that recently and also that I tweeted Nico Muhly to tell him that I was too poor to go to his Barbican shows and and andI made that small because I basically just came here to rant about it.

I am SO ready for the winter music! Although a London winter is largely rain apart from one night of snow followed by complete social breakdown, looting and panic buying. As well as skidding buses, chilly corgis (you think that just because she's the Queen she can pay the bills? It's heat or eat for ALL pensioners, you know) and wide scale slipping-overs. But that will probably hit around March, so I'm going to have to turn to music to Christmas things up a bit! Talking about the Kate Bush album, would you recommend it? I've only heard the track with Stephen Fry on it!

WOAH! Long Message, Paul! Thank you so much for all the Bush insight, I've already sent you a dropbox invite, not sure if you're still using the same email address. If not feel free to send me one! (I'm very surprised we don't already have one...) A GIRL?! That's wild news! I'm really excited for you! Who is she? What's so good about her??? Jo--I think it's beautiful that you've written a dissertation on Owen P. I also think becoming an intern at a music publishing company is an awesome idea. I'm in the same boat as Paul when he says the time he's spent here has changed him and only for the better. The time I've spent on these boards in the past years have so gradually yet so radically shaped my life. This is a pretty spectacular place where young dreamers are a dime a dozen and that 'coffee shop effect' people such as Matt Ridley discuss is so overwhelmingly abundant here. It's just stunningly beautiful.

Paul, I know. My crippling nerdness has been overwhelmingly apparent lately.
That said, lets point out that you're the one that used the term "filthy little cumrag of an album." Ew––oh goodness.
Anyway! How'd the date(s) go?!

I know the forum's focus on Kishi Bashi is mixed and past, but it looks like he's touring again. Opening for him is this trio called Plume Giant. They're music is definitely danceable pop-folk with compelling lyrics, but their compositional, orchestrating, and performing styles draw from some of the best characteristics of concert music: extremely tight performance, focus on form and development of motives, varieties of instruments (even live, when everyone's typically playing 1-2 instruments and singing three part harmonies), and just a mellifluity of language. I highly recommend them, and their LP Callithump. They're friends of friends, and my band had the pleasure of opening for them at a house show a couple of weeks ago. My two friends have been singer-songwriter guitarists with a lot of talent and experience, and are secret punks in a generally folk-based songwriting scene around here. But they recorded this EP as Cutting Room Floor a while ago, and they signed me on as a drummer. It's been amazingly freeing to play with them: all-girl punk is the best, they're fucking good, I've freed myself to do percussion outside of the standard drum kit, they're solid enough that I'm free to do a great deal of improvisation, and they're just super excited about everything I do. Every practice gives us more and more to work with, makes us better, I could do it every day (particularly when practice involves us cooking for each other and talking poetry). I love feeling at home with a band, and I love seeing that translate into good music.

I know the forum's focus on Kishi Bashi is mixed and past, but it looks like he's touring again. I saw him when he came to Vancouver a few months ago and he absolutely blew my mind, it was definitely one of my favourite shows, and his energy is off the hook. I don't know how anyone could fail to enjoy a live performance of his. When I have a minute I'm going to check out that opener, his previous opener The Last Bison was exceptional
