Ah, I have my last exam in 5 days Good luck with yours. Here, try this out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQZfGa5t4e8 my friend linked me to it and it creeps me out but its oddly nice in a very screwed up way.

Ow. Those arguments against CC are really incorrect. They cite two songs that never got formally released (due to lack of sample clearance) as rip-offs, despite the fact they were never, you know, released. Next they'll be talking about stolen synth tones.

They stole over 4 of lo-bat's tracks and featured it in no less than 4 of their "own songs" without his permission, they still don't have it yet but they've at least credited him now they've been confronted with the plagiarism. I advise you to listen to the two tracks that are featured in the top link of the blog i think, as well as looking at the pictures of the sound-waves and how they match. for more information check www.myspace.com/crystaltheft

they copped two drum noises (insane in this era, i know) that are the sound waves you are referring to.
admittedly, there is blatant plagiarism on at least insecticon and at least one other that i can pick out personally, and there are probably more of those.
but, they weren't formally released. goodness.
if any of the blogs that claim plagiarism happened ON THE ALBUM in any way, shape, or form, can prove it, okay, get out the cavalry and the gallows.
myspace is not and has never been 'formal release'

i'm not absolving them of all wrongdoing, just most of it.
obviously none of this would have been a problem if they were super careful about what tracks went where and sample clearances.

In regards to their album thievery I meant their logo, the image of the black eyed madonna, read into that also lo-bat's entire track "my little droid needs a hand" has been used in several tracks.

The illegal/legal official/un-official discussion is kind of beside the point. They are plagiarists. And I've lost interest.

From the get-go they seemed a little phony. 8 bit will always have a place in my heart though.
I like on stillepost when people were rating indieness using crystal castles. So this thread would get probably 8.5 crystal castles out of 10...

So this thread would get probably 8.5 crystal castles out of 10... I'm rather tempted to go to their gig and hold up a giant sign reading: "PHONIES".
