dudes. i assure you all that the dirty projectors are absolutely brilliant. their album the getty address is one of the most impressive pieces of music i've heard in years. total high concept cut and paste psychedelic opera. the new attitudes ep is amazing as well. all the lo-fi folky stuff dave made before he got computer tech savy is beautiful as well. live, they are a spectacle. they totally take it there. some mega talented music theory nerds, that bunch. you would be silly to miss it. i promise!

I thought they were good in vancouver, but their set dragged on a bit. Perhaps it was just beause I was really amped for Congs for Brums and XX, I'm not sure.

They impressed me BiGTIME at the Vancouver show. They've got a unique sound and amazing (& slightly overwhelming) performance aesthetic, which might account for the tears. I was particularly into the first three and last two of numbers in their set, which unfortunately have not yet been recorded for release, according to guy at the merch table.
Liking the new EP at present (varied in sound), and trying to figure out which full-lengths to get next. What's the instrumentation like on "Ghetty", Dublave? Sounds promising.
What did you guys thinks of Ches' (Congs) set? Didn't quite get the vibe the audience was exuding--sort of weirded me out.

the instrumentation on the getty address... apparently dave had recorded a lot of strings, horns, a choir, etc. for a different album he had planned. i guess he didn't end up liking it. so the getty address is the reconfiguring of that album, chopping it up digital style and warping it into a concept glitch opera involving someone who may or may not be the singer from the eagles, aztec mythology, the aftermath of 911, andy warhol's wigs... a lot of crazy stuff. i promise you it's brilliant though. their myspace page has two songs from it. listen... myspace.com/dirtyprojectors

I loved Ches at Vancouver. I'm a huge bungle fan and a drummer/vibraphonist (my drum set is almost the same as ches's) so I was bias beore hearing it. I was kinda annoyed by the jam going on downstairs at points.
