edit: it was on the front page. whatever. ps: i mentioned it because nine inch nails was pretty much the only band i listened to in my teenage years besides tori amos and marilyn manson. how cool would it be if nine inch nails took xiu xiu on tour with them. stranger things have happened (they had death from above <rip> open for them a while back). the air force really is the most accessible album they have put out so far and im sure if given the chance it could really open their fan base. plus it would be awesome to be able to buy xiu xiu albums easily. hmv is the only store in town able to order and it takes Forever (months).

the thought of xiu xiu opening for NIN is just wrong... don't you remember how horrid his fans were to the dresden dolls?

really? i thought that was a good idea also but didn't read the tour reviews. well, if not nine inch nails than an equally "big" band.

NIN fans are apparently horrible to pretty much any opener, from what i understand... hell, i still remember seeing him open for Bowie, and like 1/3 of the audience walked out after Bowie came onstage.
personally, i hope xiu xiu never play huge stadiums opening for big mall-ternative bands... i know, it's a bit selfish, but i prefer small settings, and the troubadour in l.a. is already too big
as for the dolls, check the hatemail on their website. when NIN announced the tour with them opening, they were flooded with letters from homophobic assholes attacking them

id have to /agree on this one. it would pain me to see xiu xiu opening for anyone, let alone nine inch nails. if i ever hear of the name "xiu xiu" being used on MTV i will shoot myself in the face. i promise.

i understand where your coming from. if i had access to a large city to be able to go to xiu xiu shows/ buy xiu xiu albums at stores im sure id feel the same way. i don't though so its also selfish because i just wish it were easier to do said things. i also prefer small clubs but two nights at a medium theater at large dates could fix that. just because more people like it doesn't necessarily mean they would have to accommodate large audiences at once. i don't watch watch music networks so that doesn't bother me. are you saying that if they started playing videos and reporting on bands doing something worth paying attention to ---> bad thing? do you worry about them doing a modest mouse? id rather the mainstream change to something meaningful than having bands like xiu xiu go relatively unnoticed. but maybe all i want is just better distribution. either or.
