I was randomly wandering around the internet tonight and I suddenly came across an mp3 of Xiu Xiu's cover of Nick Cave's 'Jack The Ripper' and I was like wha? and then I remembered OH YEAH THE PAPERCHASE SPLIT! which I had totally forgotten about. So this makes me paranoid that there are other Xiu Xiu releases that I have not ordered, because I am a freakish completist like that. So shall we run through the splits and then, to make it enjoyable, mention which one is the best? Or at least discuss them since they are largely set aside? Xiu Xiu / This Song Is a Mess But So Am I - Rose of Sharon Xiu Xiu / Bunkbed - Fake Soul Xiu Xiu / Devendra Banhart - The Body Breaks Xiu Xiu / The Paper Chase - Jack The Ripper Xiu Xiu / The Dead Science - Xiu Xiu / Kill Me Tomorrow - Am I missing any? Has anyone released this many split 7"s, ever? p.s. Have you heard 'Jack The Ripper'? What a surprise!

although pretty much everyone disagrees, I think 'bodybreaks' is xiu xius best cover split cover.
i forgot about fast car being a cover. yeah, that's definitely the best.
but as far as split, I'd have to say devendras. I loved bodybreaks and support our troops.

I think the KMT one was part of a deal where you had to subscribe to get it or something. I just ordered the Dead Science split and can't wait to get it!

I think its just a matter of the whole Idea of the actual record. Call me new-fashioned, but I think they need to start recording these splits on these new-fangled compact discs.

I personally think they sound better on vinyl.
They should just release everything on vinyl.

i'm still pissed about that KMT split thing... i did not want to fork out $30 for one xiu xiu 7", and a bunch of other random things i don't want, but now, i'm wondering if it's going to become the next "thanks japan".. if anyone figures out a way to get one, i would be eternally grateful

I downloaded it for some reason and its just people (probably xiu xiu) talking to japaneese people.... that's all it is... the cd itself had only one track, and was only sold at shows... the packaging was handmade, and they ran out before they got to l.a., so i never got a copy... that, the second pressing of a promise, and this new KMT split are the only things i'm missing
