has anyone ever thought of perfect moments in certain films where a song would fit in great with? does anyone think a xiu xiu song should fit well in a movie?

i have often thought about a xiu xiu album playing as the score to one particular film but could never find the perfect result. but since you're suggesting a few perfect moments then a few of marguerite duras' films come to mind that would absolutely be perfect. as far as contemporary cinema goes, xiu xiu has already taken itself one level ahead of everything out there.

i dont think xiu xiu would belong in a movie aside from something instrumental, because there is just too much emphasis on his lyrics and i would be spending too much of my brain power listening to the music and not paying attention to the scene.
however, i believe apistat would be a perfect introductory song for a movie. i always picture the opening montage in Magnolia, it would have to be something like that.

i was listening to xxl last night and my mom came in and was all "does that xiu xiu man make movie soundtracks? it sounds like something that would be in a soundtrack of a ___ _____ film."
the blank spaces are of a film director's name she said, who i can't remember.
and yes, most of the time she calls him the xiu xiu man. it's cute.

homepage.mac.com/smithcorey/HowCouldYouVideoDownload.htmis a movie i used "walnut house" in. maybe someone would care to watch it? the song was edited to take out any vocals, except for at the end. i think it works really well because it has the perfect amount of beauty and melancholy, which is the same with my film. plus, the tension builds up in the film just as the music does, and then the main character, a teenage girl, runs away from her mom yelling that she wants to be left alone, just as jamie starts to shout "don't worry, mom" amidst pots and pans clashing. yeah, jamie's stuff could make a great soundtrack. one day...

it would be awkward if my parent's knew the type of music, and payed attention to the artist's i like. especially xiu xiu. although my mom bought me a promise for my b day. that was funny.

i've always thought that todd solondz should use xiu xiu as the soundtrack for one of his films... if you've seen happiness, you might agree that solondz is the closest most filmmakers come to the honesty and discomfort of some of xiu xiu's lyrics

yea, a todd solondz film would definatly make the most since, the way hes so cruel towards his characters, xiu xiu would give a perfect atmopshere to it.
but walnut house?

I would agree, Happiness is very in your face and can kind of make you feel a bit uncomfortable.

i always thought xiu xiu instrumental would go great behind a lars von trier(sp?) film I was thinking that too, but his work is so kind of structured and dramatic, I dont know how some of xiu xius erratic tendencies would work in a movie that goes so slowly and subtly. I also want to say Van Sant...but he usually goes with natural/organic sounds, with music only when characters need to listen to the radio or play guitar. but I could see something like A Promise with Elephant. /pretentious post

John's right about Happiness. The last conversation between the father and son made my heart fall to my feet, much to the same effect Xiu Xiu has on me.
Another pretentious director who could use Xiu Xiu: Harmony Korine. RIGHT, MIRANDAAA?
and elephant *smiles at brilliant filmmaking*

a musical perhaps.. ? a joyfully depressing film that suddenly breaks into a xiu xiu song at the most torturous of moments ... i think i'd like that. so many people would cry.
jamie could be the next bjork... go win a best actress award at cannes... go go...
