holy shit this album is amazing. I was so disappointed after my first listen, but now i am completely blown away. The softer, more formless songs seemed weak at first, but wow they are so good! "Rose of Sharon" is so intense at the end.

the only thing i think is wrong, is people putting up links to the album. i think if you want it, you find it on your own. the discussion of the leaked album doesnt seem like a big deal to me. but take down the fucking links.

disappointment?
y'all are crazy. i was let down by FM though. this is the xiu xiu i am somewhat satisfied by. there are a lot of substantial sounds on this record that i thought were lacking from fabulous muscles. this is just my first listen, but i'm pleasantly surprised

Oh. So it's okay for you to steal the album but not other people. apparently. leaking an album is not illegal, if so then i dont think we should be allowed to look at paintings on the internet, and tons of artists have online galleries. i know the argument is that if someone downloads a leak they wont buy the album. i think all the hardcore fans will buy the album no matter what, and the people who dont buy but downloaded the leak, obviously dont like Xiu Xiu much in the first place... and would just maybe download the album when it's released. plus leaks create a lot of hype, so many more people hear the music, and making more people buy it, of course there are some who wont like the album so they dont buy it, but i dont think Jamie should care so much about money that he wants people to take a chance on his records and buy them, then hate them. |

I think this album should be great, but Jamie hides his voice in the mix. On all the other CD's Jamie trumphiantly, place his lyrics front and center to the point of creating something frighteningly self centered and beautiful.
None of the songs feature Jamie's voice as lead, and they all suffer from it, all the album ambient noisescapes need his voice to hold them together and its missing.
