Does anyone know if you are allowed to tape or photograph the show. Is it venue specific or a general policy that applies everywhere?

i've told jamie i was thinking about taping a show, and he was completely fine with it. i have a feeling some venues prohibit it, but since most of the venues xiu xiu play at are small, i doubt there's a problem...

however, if you tape a show, you have to share

agreed. Wasnt planning anything fancy just getting the show on MiniDisk. Not exactly a hard core taper. I am going the show on the 11th so expect to see me sharing shortly after that and thanks again for the info.

why didn' those things ever catch on and get popular?
is there something, smaller, easier, more durable, and better that I am missing?
i mean, sure we have mp3 crap or whatever..but i like to have a disc that i can hold. where's the love.

hah i know i got a nice md recorder instead of an MP3 player a couple years back thinking it would win out.
They have since been able to increase the amount of music you can keep on a disk by like 5 times buy sadly Sony has killed it with their proprietary format and copying restrictions. Bummer.
But at least I still have a very nice portable recorder with optical out.

yes, koo's is all ages.. it's also almost unbearable... while i will be attending both koo's and the smell, if you can only make one, i suggest the smell, which is also all ages. koo's is an art gallery, and the acoustics suck ass. last time xiu xiu played there, everyone walked out with incredible headaches after the show, and that was only jamie touring. it's a small venue, and it's the kind of place you can sit on the floor around the make-shift stage comfortably, but have aleve in the car

it was an amazing amazing night and i cant wait to share both the pictures and the recording with you all within the coming days.
Any suggestions on show sharing? lossless or mp3. if mp3 is there somewhere i could host? If lossless how does a torrent of the show sound?

how did you tape the show? A few nights ago, I used my mics into my DAT recorder...and also taped off of the soundboard. I got 2 excellent tapes.
