Win Butler might just be one of the coolest dudes ever

As Owen has mentioned, he's currently touring as a band member of Arcade Fire for their new album. There was a show down here in Miami that sold out in 5 minutes and I somehow managed to snag up 2 tickets to that show! It was an outdoor venue and they closed the entire street for the show so there was tons of space. I went with a friend of mine who loves Arcade Fire like nothing else. I noticed Win Butler walking around the crowd wearing a mask to blend in with everyone else wearing costumes. A small crowd started to gather around him as one person noticed him and made it obvious who he was, my friend and I were just watching since we weren't really sure what we would say.

Win started to walk back in but my friend approached him for what I thought was going to be a picture, but instead her being fully aware of how much I love Owen's music asked Win if he could somehow help us meet Owen! Win did not even hesitate to say yes and told us to stand on the other side of the venue and that he would be right there. We waited, the entire time wondering whether or not he was coming back or if he was even going to remember what we looked like since there were so many people there. Sure enough, Win came back and told us to sit tight that he was going in to get Owen. Few minutes later they both came out and he walked Owen up to us and introduced us as the people who wanted to meet him.

I'm not even sure what I said but it was probably just a mass mumble of words since I was terrified. He stayed and spoke to us for a few minutes and I showed him the 2 tattoos I had based on his music. I think he thought they were pretty cool because he even told Win about them at one point and he asked to see them too!

I have no idea why I'm posting this here but the show was on the 24th of this month and I'm still really happy about how everything turned out, I guess I'm just saying that Win Butler is a fantastic person and he'll never know how much more of an awesome night I had because of him helping us out.

The first one is for the song Flare Gun which I first heard around 2007 when Owen was still going by Final Fantasy.


The second one is my Many Lives // Red Sun No. 5. it says Many Lives but it's really hard to get a clear shot of it due to my skinny arm.

Also I felt the same way both times I met Owen; I doubt anything I said was meaningful. In fact, the first time I met him I was so nervous that after I bought merchandise from him, I walked away without getting my change and he had to shout at me to come back and pick it up

I haven't been able to finish the one on my chest due to the fact that I am a giant baby apparently, just hurt a lot for me. Also I could easily see myself walking away after buying merch but leaving everything behind, I would've just claimed defeat and left empty handed.

Yeah he was working hard at the merch booth both times I saw him. First time he was opening for The National, second time for Grizzly Bear

I've only been able to catch one show while I was in New York. Waiting for more stateside dates and some money to try and catch a plane out and see him again.

all of this makes me very happy. hooray for musicians who are lovely people! also am in the process of thinking up an Owen-inspired tattoo. the Final Fantasy f-hole might be a bit ubiquitous though...

Ahh this is so awesome, I'm so happy you got to meet both of them! I saw your Heartland tattoo on Tumblr awhile back, I was pretty excited about it.

The one time I met Owen I was invited in to the dressing room by the staff working at the venue that saw me waiting patiently outside, and I literally stared at the floor because I was so overwhelmed and he had to ask if I was alright to prompt me to speak, it was ridiculous. I've never been so nervous in the presence of someone before. Still hoping that a Vancouver show will be announced for the Arcade Fire tour, one never knows

seeing Owen play with Arcade Fire is definitely in the top 10 on my bucket list. and I really can't afford to shell out the money to hop down to Seattle or over to Edmonton to see them... aghh, we NEED a Vancouver date!
