Did we every find out why the Stratford show was cancelled? I'm going to the Coventry and Cardiff shows, yay! Nope, they didn't bother telling us and Owen never mentioned it... I'd guess it was probably poor ticket sales since they aren't rescheduling and were trying to promote the Coventry show in the email Yay, that's great - see you in Coventry! I'm going to Field Day too now - I thought it was going to be too expensive but they finally gave me a definite stage time for Owen, and I can JUST make it there and back in a day (it will be travel hell, but worth it)! I always wanted to see him play a festival and I thought this might be my last chance! I wish I could come to Cardiff so badly but I've already spent over £300 on these shows now and Wales is sooo expensive to get to (Also I have to be in Glasgow the night before and the day after, which makes things awkward!) I was actually going to book it as a combined trip with Field Day when it was on the 5th, but thankfully I was too busy with uni to book the non-refundable parts before it was rescheduled or I'd have lost even more money!

Aww, that's quite lucky for you then - I'm in Glasgow, so nowhere near any of these shows! (Although he's coming to Edinburgh in August so I can't complain! ) But I usually find if I book well in advance I can get cheap deals on travel. I'm getting to Stratford Upon Avon for £15, although I have to spend 6 and a half hours on a bus to Birmingham, which I'm not looking forward to! Everything I booked was non-refundable so I thought it would be better to stick to the original plan and go to Stratford than pay for new travel to Coventry! And I've just remembered that south of the border all the shops close at 4pm on Sundays unless you're in the city and I arrive at 4.15... this is going to be an interesting night! But anyway, it'll be worth it eventually when I get to Coventry! Good luck finding a hotel in Cardiff - hopefully it shouldn't be too expensive on a Wednesday!

I'm dragging my poor boyfriend to both shows. Hopefully he'll enjoy it. Oh gosh 6.5 hours on a bus... I'm so sorry I hope it goes as smooth as possible. Sorry about the shops closing too, hopefully there will be a Sainsbuy's local (or Tesco's).

I gave an offhand remark in an obscure interview about My Future Of Touring, and I just wanted to clarify. I thought I'd clarify here because I figured the people who'd noticed were likely the close-knit fanbase rather than the extended one.
I will indeed cease touring in 2016 in the traditional sense, but that doesn't mean "no more shows". I will still play shows, "be on tour", I just will be doing so in a new format and with much less frequency, focusing on the major markets instead of secondary ones. The shows will be different, also. My songwriting has, for over a decade, been tied to the live-looping format, and I want for my future records to divest myself of that. The new records might feature a harpsichord and then a foghorn choir and then a chorus of streetcars and then waterphone. It sounds like I'm making things more complex, but in fact, I'm simplifying.
Furthermore, I've felt that this tour I've improved my looping show to the best it can be. I've been singing great, playing great, the setlists are stacked, Matt and Robbie and Noah are amazing, we've been getting five-star reviews from all corners. With this feeling of achievement, I'm happy and want to finish this year's tour dates and then move on to something new and exciting.
After every show, some hunk comes up to me and gives me a hug and says "never stop doing what you're doing, it means so much". For the longest time, I felt that these hunks meant that I should keep up with the live looping, keep up with the touring, play the songs you wanna hear every night. Now I know that they meant the opposite. "What I'm doing" is many things, not just live looping. I want my next album to surprise people and delight them. And so, yes, you may see me play "The Great Elsewhere" with my looping apparatus in the future, but it won't be the thing I'm doing every night.
I hope this allays all your concerns! This decision was made out of enthusiasm and excitement!

Whatever direction you head I'm sure it'll be wonderful, exciting and rewarding. Can't wait.

When did the Vancouver show become a thing?! Christ. This time, I'm in Bothell, WA interning. Why does this happen to me.

Band was in great form at Coventry last night even if that pesky piece of equipment needed a rest a couple of times and the heavens saw fit to make it more like midwinter than British summer time.
We do need to think of better questions to ask when prompted although Matt did provide an entertaining monologue on his favourite colour. I did a bit of research (okay it was a 30 sec google search) and found 100 Interesting questions to ask (no dating ones please)... hmm a lot of these seem very bland.. I was almost amused by “who would you brainwash/why?” and “who would you lock in room and how would you torment them for a day?”. There's a whole load of desert island questions or what do you like/dislike or the life regret ones, but nothing that truly makes it an outstanding and thought provoking question.
I did once think of asking Owen... "Hey Owen, What's you favorite note?" but I think that might have been done before and really is that the best I can offer. So what do I really want to know? I don’t know and I probably need someone to tell me why I don’t know? Am I really that conversationally stunted?
Answers on a postcard....

It was good, haha I feel so bad about my stupid "what's your favourite colour" question. I don't think anyone was as amused by it as I was. Also it was great to meet you and see you on Wednesday in Cardiff!
