Hello & please forgive me if this post is completely in appropriate, I am new.
I have just started to play the violin and I am trying to figure out how to play The Tears, Apollo 13 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dr1AKvMBKXU) but with little success. I've found guitar chords and tab on the internet but with my limited knowledge I can't really make any sense of it. I know there are lot of talented musicians on here and wondered whether anyone out there knew or could figure out the notes. It is a fairly simple pattern from what I can hear but I am still completely lost. I wouldn't normally ask however I want to learn how to play it not only for my own pleasure but to record it as a gift for a very dear friend in very difficult circumstances. I know it is a big ask, especially from a stranger, but if anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction I would be deeply grateful.
Many thanks,
andy

I realise it might be a bit cheeky asking someone to figure out a song for nothing. I am an illustrator by trade and would be more than happy to offer a pretty picture in return. It's about all I've got to offer.
Thanks again,

Are you trying to figure out the guitar part or the violin part on the violin?

Oh, I guess the guitar part on the violin. I assumed the strings at the end just mimicked the main guitar riff. Would you be able to help me out?

Ok. I'm not really sure exactly what you're looking for. Here is how you could go about just playing double stops on the violin to accompany a vocal part. I'm assuming you know the notes on a violin. If you don't... Here is a chart. www.childrensmusicworkshop.com/instruments/violin/images/violin_fingering_chart.gifYou can use this to see when the chords come up: tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/t/the_tears/apollo_13_crd.htmE: - E on the D string - B on the A string. B: - B on the G string - D# (It is labeled as Eb on the violin fingering chart) on the D string. Bm: - B on the G string - Open D A: - A on the G string - E on the D string C: - C on the G string - E on the D string F#m: - F# on the D string - Open A string I'm still not exactly sure what you are looking for though. This would be for playing an arco or pizzicato "chordal" accompaniment. If you want to pluck out each individual note though, that is going to be a far more complex matter, especially since the violin doesn't have a low E. I supposed down tuning is a possibility though. What exactly are you looking for here? If you want to figure out the plucked chords, it might be helpful for you to know what notes belong in each chord. I didn't listen to the whole song to verify the chords, so I am hoping that the guitar chords are correct. E - E G# and B. B - B D# F# Bm - B D F# A - A C# E C - C E G F#m - F# A C# I hope that's helpful.
