If anyone is wondering, the forum was suspended because of some copyrighted material that was posted on this board.
So for the future, please be wary of posting anything you think might issue any kind of takedown notice.
All the best, Stu

Welcome back. Thank you Stu!
What happened in the last two weeks?
I got a hold of all these old Toronto show posters from 2000-2009 (mostly 2003-2005), I started scanning them and posting them at toronto200x.tumblr.com. It's a bit of a slow start, but I'm collecting more posters to scan and then I'll do them all at once on a friend's 11x17 size scanning device. In the meantime, if you have any you'd like to post, please message 'em to me on the tumblr.

I missed this place. Thanks Stu, owen, all. I finished the score on my latest piano suite, attached. I still haven't mastered it enough to record, but I'm seriously seriously fucking proud of it. The engraving was done with lilypond, which is a text-based notation language; the 9 pages come from 1196 lines of code, programmed and compiled. It's a beautifully powerful and versatile language, and I highly recommend it for those sick of clunky graphical engravers with high price tags, and are willing to put in some time to learn. I'll be playing keys, piano, and sax on a punk rock tour this winter. We're hitting up most of the northeastern united states. The bandleader's EP is here; Journal, St. Peter, and Pile of Dirt are amazing hits. Attachments:

Looks great, Alyssa. Beautiful chord choices.
I'd warn you against using so many octaves in the left hand, though. You don't need to hammer out the root of the chord to make the listener understand. In fact, the harmonic series that a left-hand octave creates is, to my ears (and others), very distinctive and reminiscent of Liberace, Liszt-- that whole school of writing. If that's what you're looking for, go for it! But it seems as if, in this piece, it subverts the mood a little bit.
(It's also almost unplayable at bar 130 in that regard, or at least, more awkward than necessary.)

Was the violation really in relation to something as obscure as The Box, as was implied a possibility via your twitter? It's just kinda late seeing as how long ago the movie came out. ;x

I really like the way that Liszt draws so many different kinds of sound out of the piano (and I fucking LOVE fifths), and I am trying to channel that. Also the middle section of Chopin's Db prelude (which of course only exists in contrast to the A sections shimmering in the wind). But yeah I'm holding a pedal point root a lot, especially mm. 93 - 109 and 160-180 could get a lot more interesting. than just a vamp. If it helps, I perform this like I'm trying to raise the dead, or a sub begging for a dom, usually on an upright.
I can pull off m. 130, though I go rubato when I'm jumping more than a fourth. And "pull off" still means there's no dynamics too it. Necessary...hmm.
Thanks for taking the time, Owen. For what it's worth, I'll always return the favor.

Hey Sarpedon, which part of Virginia are you from? I'm about 15 minutes away from D.C.
