Dear Music Lovers,
So I'm getting ready for a performance, and I've yet to decide whether or not I should eat dinner first. But if I were to eat anything, what would be the best meal to have before going on stage? What must be avoided at all costs? Is it worth it to eat at all? Are hot dogs and cigarettes just phallic symbols of patriarchal sexism?

Are hot dogs and cigarettes just phallic symbols of patriarchal sexism? Probably. But, damn! So delicious. I've usually avoided eating before either playing or attending a show. My adrenaline pumps way too high to have to think about digestion, too, so I always save up the hunger until the celebratory "Fuck yeah! I did that!" meal/bender afterward. It depends on how long you're going to be playing, though. If it's a long set and your stomach is in danger of grumbling mid-performance, then maybe something small, bland, and starchy would serve you well. My suggestion? Something muffiny. Or more smokes.

Yeah:P I vote light and non-dairy + lots of water.

I always regret my food choices pre-performance, but I find light food, particularly soup, with lots of water generally does the trick.
And a banana.
