2010 The National Tour

Did not think I would be starting two threads in the same day, both focusing on Owen Pallett touring this year, but here we are. An e-mail from The National:

Hi Friends -

We wanted to let you know about a newly added fall US tour that begins in late September. We're excited to be visiting a lot of cities that we haven't been to since the early days of Boxer, so we hope you can join us when we come to your town. And we couldn't be happier that Owen Pallett (http://owenpalletteternal.com/) will be supporting all shows on this new US tour.

You'll find the new dates below and please check www.americanmary.com/tour.php for the ticketing links and on-sale times. Most shows are on sale this Friday (6/4) or Saturday (6/5). There are pre-sales for shows in Indianapolis, Houston, Dallas, and Pomona - you can find the ticket links and password on the tour page. Most on-sale times are 10 am in the local time zone of the venue, but check the tour page if you're interested in Montclair, Kansas City or St. Louis as on-sale times vary in those cities.

Oh man - I am so stoked for this. Was really hoping to catch The National this year, and I find out they are playing at one of my favorite venues and Owen is opening?!?! Perfect.

This is the largest tour Owen has been apart of, right? I know he's played some large audiences, but never non-festivals, right? So excited for him - this will be great exposure.

dude. i googled this tour earlier, and atl didn't even show up on the list of dates. sfskjfskjf and it's at the fox theatre? love love love. hopefully i can round up a bunch of djs and go.

the MFNW lineup just keeps getting better. The Decemberists, and now this?

goddamn, goddamn, goddamn. I move to Portland LATE September. goddamn, goddamn, I've never been to a "music festival" and have only seen Mr. P performer once. goddamn goddamn...

Well, MFNW is lovely, but don't feel to awful about missing it. It's in portland, spread out amongst local venues, so it's about 80% 21+.

Emyli, I could just as easily Google this, but I'm going to ask you for details about the festival so that you know I'm interested in doing it. You can PM if we don't want to litter the thread with our auxiliary topic, but we're probably charming enough to make this dialogue publicly worthwhile.

So, MFNW. What's the story, Morning Glory?

It's a music festival that happens every year in Portland. Unlike a lot of fests it's held in the city, spread between several downtown venues. Lots of local bands, a couple of touring acts. It's sponsored by one of portland's two main weekly newspapers, so the organizers are experts on local music. Unfortunately a lot of Portland venues are 21+, so there aren't many all ages shows. But this year I'm probably going anyway.

aww well that sucks. Part of me really wants a fake ID even though I could never pass as being over 21, and I'm not much for a drinker, but music ahhhhh!

Yeah, I've want a fake id forever, but I have no clue how to get one. One of Portland's few major downsides.
