Am I seriously the only Vancouverite on this forum? Say it ain't so! Anyways, as you may have guessed, I was utterly blown away by Owen's performance the other night. Just.. just, GAHH!!!! [insert much jumping up & down along with a-smile-that-won't-quit] So. Openers were Snowblink. They had a lovely and rather sweet set, kinda typically indie/folk. I may have missed whether anyone actually used the bell thingies they handed out, but it was a nice idea anyways! I feel a bit bad cause I'm always just burning with anticipation to see Owen that I have a hard time giving his opening bands the proper consideration, unless you're a Tanya Tagaq or Bob Wiseman, of course. And oh OHHHH!!!!! He was brilliant, just fucking BRILLIANT!!!! For the set list, you might as well just look at the 2010 Set List thread, it was pretty similar to ones already posted. But to hear everything LIVE again.... how can I pick out a favourite moment? All of the new songs sounded so amazing that I could cry (umm... not literally... well, ok, maybe a little ). E is for Estrangement tore at my heartstrings rather a lot and even though it was a sit-down show, I think I wiggled/danced in my seat hard enough that I did not actually explode with joyous energy. God, I LOVE HEARTLAND!!! And he covered Interview!!! And I think I sang along to every song (quietly, I think..) and I'm sorry I can't be more eloquent but ohhh!!! It was enough to make your heart burst! So much beauty. <3 I wasn't sure what to expect now that Stephanie is gone and Thomas is in. I admit, I have some strange purist, snobby ways. But how could I have doubted Thomas? (Oh, hahaha.) I avoided youtubing his shows on this tour cause I really wanted a fresh introduction, ya know? And seriously, all of the songs on which he contributed were absolutely beautiful and Many Lives... the synchronized violin and guitar... it blew my fucking mind!!!! I know other people have commented on this, but Thomas' percussion really added a powerfulness and depth to the songs on which he played. I so wish I could turn back time and just re-live this night again and again. Did anyone get some video? And ohhh, ahhhh, photos. Yes. Well. My friend happens to have a very nice camera. It has a fancy lens. She didn't have a memory card with her so I loaned her mine cause my camera is really worth shit. Luckily, she did get off quite a few shots before the security came and told her that if she didn't stop taking photos they would take the memory card and break it. WTF!!! ? After the show, the security guy came up to me cause he could hear me talking (possibly ranting) about it and tried to explain it's just venue policy. Ok, I get it. But when people threaten my friends (and it was MY memory card, after all!) I might possibly get a bit huffy. And stamp my foot. Repeatedly. Which is slightly dangerous in 5-inch heels. But ohhhhh, the injustice was illogical and infuriated me!!! But we DID get to meet Owen after the show!!!!!!! He chatted to us for awhile and was as lovely and sweet as always. I'm afraid I may have said some strange things, sadly this is just par for the course with me. *sigh* He signed our LP's and confused the hell out of us by stating that Heartland was recorded in 96. What does this mean? I never quite figured that out! It was unfortunate that I had an inconvenient attack of the shy's (what? I really am a shy person, you know.... no one seems to believe me when I say that! weird) and didn't have the balls to ask for a hug. They were selling the vinyl for extra cheap to help make up for the cancelled show last fall. How incredibly sweet is that? So very! Also, we had promised to share shots with Patrick but he looked rather busy soo.... I am sorry, sir! The intention and alcohol were there, it just didn't work out! PICTURES! PICTURES!!!! umm... yes, well, I'll load them tomorrow as I'm exhausted. But here's something til then. ;D btw, Owen, re: your atrocious dinner, here's some restaurant recommendations: Tsunami's on Robson - delicious sushi, of course I might just be blinded by my childish fascination with the serve-yourself conveyor belt... Posh on Broadway - awesome sukiyaki. And you're cooking it yourself so you can't really go wrong there, right? Right!

He signed our LP's and confused the hell out of us by stating that Heartland was recorded in 96. What does this mean? I never quite figured that out! From googleing it looks most likely it means he recorded at 96kHz...though not really sure what difference that would make... Nice little review there, you've conveyed the excitement of seeing Owen very well!

Nice little review there, you've conveyed the excitement of seeing Owen very well! Oh!! Well, it all makes sense now. Thanks Dot! Glad you liked it, despite my apparent punctuation addiction, haha! Thanks Ren & Emily! And you're right, I shall doubt Thomas no more!!! Scott - wasn't it though?!! Yah, I kinda hoped for that or the Good Mother cover, but it's hard to miss those songs when everything he played was so overwhelmingly Amazing!!! You didn't happen to get any video or note the set list, did you?
