Hey! I went to the Austin gig (April 30th, last Friday) and my friend and I snatched a chit of paper from the stage after the show. It's what I assume to be lyrics written on the back of a plane ticket ... and it sounds like some of the lyrics could go to Scandal at the Parkade. Here is what is written, and I can get a scan of the boarding pass if anyone wants it...; He had it on the keyboard for about the first half of the show, he was looking at it during a song (which I think was Scandal, not 100% sure) but it fell off the keyboard midway through. He didn't seem to notice ... so, like I said, snatched it. EDIT: I keep forgetting that Mr. Pallett himself is a member here ... if you'd like to shed some light on the mystery paper, go right ahead! And sorry if you needed that boarding pass. You stole Owen's boarding pass/plane ticket off the stage, because he didn't notice it falling on the floor? Sorry, but that's really not cool. It's alright guessing lyrics, but ultimately we should wait til Owen chooses to share his work with us. Also, offering to post scans of Owen's old documents on the internet = also not cool.

Seriously? I don't see how this is any different than snagging a setlist at the end of a show. No one writes lyrics on the back of a plane ticket that they're going to need, so I think we can be assured that Owen isn't going to miss the next show because he's standing at the airport gate patting all his pockets, looking for that slip of paper. Secondly, I don't think she's offering to scan the part with his credit card information and departure time. Thirdly, this is a thread that a member started to get information about lyrics. golden30 saw the thread, realized she had information to share, and came to us to give what she excitedly found out at the show she was just at. I'm certainly not the arbiter of morality here, but I wouldn't call that an especially "uncool" move. golden30, just to avoid any future chastisement, I'm going to advise you to wait until the very end of a show to grab anything off of the stage, though. If this ends up being a "discussion" (which, God!, there's other more interesting news to follow, so I hope it doesn't...), this is the point on which you're going to get thrown under the bus. All that bullshit said, I've never heard "keep your dick clean" when listening, so that's quite a revelation.

Sorry if you think I'm overreacting, but it's the whole invading-artists-privacy thing, or just taking liberties, which I really don't like or see any need for.
A set list is just a plain list of song titles which artists know through decades of experience that audience members are going to want to take at the end. But these were lyrics which Owen hadn't chosen to release yet, and which golden30 said he was making use of throughout the set and just happened to accidentally drop. What if they were his only record of those lyrics? Okay I know that's unlikely, but I don't think fans have the right to just make assumptions, like "okay that's mine now". The fact that it was written on a personal document (plane ticket, boarding pass, whatever) just makes it that bit more invasive, to me.
What you said about this being a thread started to "get information about lyrics" kind of makes it sound like we're a bunch of enemy spies trying to force information out of Owen and when that fails, taking prompts from him mid-performance. It's his choice when he is ready to release lyrics... Owen has said in the past that he isn't even comfortable with recordings of live shows being shared out on here. I'm probably being uptight but personally I'd say this crosses a line.

Woah Nellie, there's a difference between stealing and picking something up off the floor after the show (which is what she did if you actually read her whole post ); he was probably gone by that point. Anyways, let's not point fingers about what is ultimately unimportant.

...setlists and other such things often get written on anything availbale at the time. I have a set list by Grizzly Bear from way back that was written on the back of a paper plate.
Also... I've never see a boarding pass with anything else other than a name , flight number, seat number and inside leg measurement before.. and mainly these are handed out at the airport (okay you can print at home these days.
I think it was far game myself.

so much hostility in the name of Owen! *Jeez man, you've got us fighting over you now* Haha, let's just say, I bet Owen would have stolen Mariah's boarding pass if it floated down from heaven in front of him...

In Honour the Dead or Else does anyone know what the line is after the first time Owen says 'honour the dead or else' but before 'i have the first couple of hours to myself'? It's really bugging me.

"Always manage to find a boy on the west side" ? Something like that? But it sounds different in some versions
