But anyways, I have a couple drunken sketches that are going to continue this series... Oh, these are lovely. I wish I could perform so well when drunk; I usually just end up obsessively checking on the message board instead. Good drawings rarely get the respect they deserve, but they can be so expressive. That loose strand of hair over the cellist's eye is a perfect "drawing moment" that just wouldn't be the same in another medium. Also, if one has to draw on lined paper, a grid pattern is the best. You have good taste. I'm excited to see the upcoming others. BTW, re: my own work, thanks to all for such nice comments. Thanks for seeing that they're rooted in something, in you understand what I mean. The past six months have been very difficult; I'm working in a very rural, very manual labor-oriented environment where artistic endeavors aren't really recognized as having any value, and it sucks to pour oneself into a painting and have the the school janitor be the first to comment: "You finally done with that crazy buffalo?" You've made me feel like there's a point in wanting to be impressive again, so thanks. Grrr. I wish we could all hang out for a little while, in realSpace. Is that breaking some Internet rule? I hope not. Artistic people need community, we need to be reminded that we matter. This thread is awesome, but nothing beats coffee, you know what I mean? /moping. Keep posting!

A bunch of my friends from another message board just moved to portland to move in together, so I don't think the idea of real-life contact breaks any internet rule, no.

I like gazing at this while listening to Scandal. They both excite the imagination.

Love your style, unicornmagic!!! The self-portrait is gorgeous, very moody & such lovely shading. I absolutely suck at digital art so I doubly admire artists that can use it so effectively.

woah, I really like all of this stuff. I'm impressed. I rarely draw (don't have the time nor the patience), but I have some stuff here: oisber.deviantart.com/I know a guy that's a genius. I was going to post his blog, but it seems like it's shut down.

woah, I really like all of this stuff. I'm impressed. I rarely draw (don't have the time nor the patience), but I have some stuff here: oisber.deviantart.com/I know a guy that's a genius. I was going to post his blog, but it seems like it's shut down. These are really great, ragamuffin. Great gallery! I feel like there's a story behind each one, there's so much expressiveness here. Very graphic novel-esque! The realism of the portraits is awesome too! That's so hard to capture. ...Oh! Oh right. Ok, so also I was going to say something else but I was distracted looking at the pretty. So. Right. I apologize if the following makes me an offensive Art Whore... I'm just.. this has been a very surreal day for me. My husband's book (The Oasis! yes, I'm shameless, I know) became available TODAY on Amazon and Barnes&Noble and he had asked me to do all the artwork for it; chapter headers, illustrations, author's portrait, cover art, everything. And I'm kind of completely Delighted and so Excited for him but also I kinda just wanna puke from the bizarreness of seeing my artwork on his promotional posters and on the interwebz. I'm now a published illustrator. Holy fuck this is WEIRD! Especially since I've always just considered myself a scribbler of the manic variety. It's always been hard trying to live up to the 'L'Artiste Pur' expectations of my mum. Not that I should care... but, of course, I do. And now one of my crappy paintings is on the cover of a book. I just can't get my head 'round it.... My favourite illustration from the book: Two Templar Knights Shameless Whore Book Links productsearch.barnesandnoble.com/search/results.aspx?store=BOOK&WRD=the+oasis+j.s.+robinsonwww.amazon.com/Oasis-J-S-Robinson/dp/1596636904/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1280474778&sr=1-1I'm also working on a ridiculously large video project with a friend for no other reason than it's going to be really cool! I think... Actually I'm trying not to over-think it cause it's a slide show/stop action type of thing and I still have a horrific number of drawings left to do. Even though each one will only be up for a couple seconds max, I can't seem to help but want every one of them to be detailed and perfect (and I use the word 'perfect' very loosely!). GAHH!!!! The Beetle People Waiting for the Train Again, I apologize if I shouldn't have published those links.. I'll take them down if requested. I'm not trying to sell anything, just tripping balls over all this really. Come share in the nausea of my moment of happy surreality! Haha
