Now this may be a thread that's too general to prosper but I realised tonight that Heartland seems to be an album that really fits certain activities. Here's my list of times i've really, really appreciated the album. - Whilst Running.
- Whilst Cleaning.
- Walking around a familiar place at dusk.
Anyone want to add any?

Driving in the woods at midnight with a starry sky above and two friends who have never heard the album before and consequently believe the dissonant music is the soundtrack to our horrible demise at the hands of a serial killer.

I know it's been mentioned somewhere before, but going for a jog is the best time to listen to Heartland in my opinion. Lewis Takes Action sure gets my feet to take action.

During a thunder storm :3 Especially having a bolt of lighting and thunder (the storm was like directly on top of me) sync up perfectly with the change from Keep the Dog Quiet to Mnt Alpentine
I was outside for the record, completely sodden, and being battered by wind and icy rain >.<

YES me too. It's great for jogging, especially the first fifteen minutes or so.

Oh, and [kinda off-topic, or, inverting the topic], my favourite album to do this activity to is Tom Waits' "Alice". It's so other-worldly I just love wandering about listening to it... makes me feel like a ghost. OK, maybe that's weird.

This. I first listened to the whole thing on a rather long walk to visit a friend at crazy o' clock at night. Got to his room, and was roughly "Woah. You've got to listen to this!"

In an attic room surrounded by books and bookcases, with multicolored strings of scarves stretching over the cieling, with quilt upon quilt upon rainbow-colored quilt melded together across a puffy mattress, with a blacklight on and glow-in-the-dark stars dotting the ceiling, with the rain falling, with maybe a tiny bit of illigal substances and a warm body. (this only happened once ) Anytime in the night, especially between 2 and 4. The discombobulation that overtiredness brings somehow melds really well with the album for me. I nearly had a heart attack while listening to Midnight Directives, I could hear so much.

Ooh, I forgot to add: - Anywhere I can sing along without getting strange looks.

I always listen to this with the windows down when I'm driving, especially late at night when I'm on the verge of falling asleep at the wheel. Or just extremely loud on the stereo when no one is home. (I bet it would be good to listen to while skiing)

Lying on the floor. Dozing on the bus. In a classroom* While sewing. While cooking.
*Did I tell anyone I played "Lewis Takes Action" for my composition seminar on the day I had to present about myself as composer (something all the graduates have to do)? I used the time to talk about the things that "knock me out" as my prof would say - words and colour and human error. Apparently now they're all crazy about Heartland and also Nico.

It's pretty fantastic for a purposeless walk in a landscape of snow. I did that back in December when it leaked and the Christmas holidays had just begun - I'm pretty convinced it's the most magical time I've spent listening to it.
