I wasn't at Union Chapel but I enjoyed Owen's show the day before in Paris. Set list was quite similar. We had a first encore with CN Tower, and Song song song and as people were starting to leave, Independence is no solution (that is the one I failed to shout when Owen first came back on stage). I've seen Owen once before at the haldern pop festival, last summer. It was crowded and the sound was not so good. It left me with the wish of seeing him again in a small venue, which was fully granted with the Maroquinerie. This show was amazing: the place, the acoustic, and more importantly live arrangements. My memory of haldern show is quite blurred, but it feels like arrangements are now much finely-worked. Anyway it was one of the best show I've seen for months, probably years. I've just missed the shivers down my spine and this indescribable happiness that I used to feel, when I were 17, during live show of artist I love. Either the public around me was too quite or I'm just getting older and wiser....

Thanks for posting links Jules...
this was a wilder performance than the one in Manchester!
will now go and post my increasing obsession with Heartland elsewhere.

There comes a time in many people's lives where they have to realise they've got to register and stop lurking... I guess. And for me, that time is now! I took a plane across some water to see Owen at the Union Chapel for the second time and now I feel like I have to share some of my enthusiasm with you guys. You seem like quite nice people. I've been a fan of Owen's music and general awesomeness for about a year now and though he has never (at least as far as I know) played in the country I call home, I've already seem him live three times, with this evening in London being my third. Luckily my family is quite fond of London and it isn't that expensive going there if you know the right ways, meaning that I got to see Owen's show at the chapel last May. Ever since I have been calling it the best gig I've ever been to, as well as the kind of gig I'd want to go to again if I possibly could. With the Way Out West line-up being so fantastic, and it also being just a couple of hours on a boat away, it was already the plan that I was going to that festival long before it was announced that Owen was playing there too. Let's just say that festival had a very lovely ending. When I found out Owen was playing the Union Chapel again I did everything I could to make it happen, because I just couldn't bear the thought of him playing there again without me being there to enjoy it. And fantastically, I actually managed to be there again, in the front row, witnessing another beautiful and oh-so-special gig. Such fantastic special guests, intriguing and interesting and almost just as important part of the show as Owen's own appearance. But they couldn't really overshadow watching Owen and Thomas play, because that is simply magic. That's the only word that comes to mind when describing it. Needless to say, that last Union Chapel show has serious competition now. I brought my dad with me and he managed to record a big part of the show on his camera. A lot of the videos need to be cut up into separate songs before I can upload them, but they'll come. I'm in the process of looking through them now and getting goosebumps all over. I really hope this isn't the last time I'll see Owen live.

All the way from Denmark, indeed. but I've been to London so many times that it doesn't really seem like a very long way anyway. The amazing thing is, though, that right behind me in the queue were a Norwegian couple who said they'd also mainly come to London for the gig. When the whole 'go-to-the-bar' thing happened, I'm also pretty sure I heard some people speaking Swedish. Scandinavia was certainly represented! also, I met a Danish girl, who is now living in London, and had a nice little conversation after the show about how fantastic it was.

All the way from Denmark nillen? Glad you could make it! Hope you didn't have any of the same dodgy sandwiches Owen had! I have a story that involves me, a burger van and an Arcade Fire concert..its similar in so many ways. The embarrassing thing was that I was so ill I blackout, but just after Patrick Wolf finished his support set. I refused to let illness prevent me seeing the concert although it was a weird experience. Problem was that I was also the named driver and the only other driver have been drinking. So I had to drive down the M6 with double blurred vision after the show. I made it home eventually and then spent 24 hours in bed unable to move. Another time I was going to see Miles Kane and played soccer in the day and knackered my leg, so I was in agony the entire evening. I am now very cautious about any food \ sports within a week of any concert, because its not worth it. I also allow far too much time for traffic, so I'm normally first at most gigs I go to.
