I thought it was wonderful! While talking to Thomas afterward, he told me that Owen was not very pleased with how it went, but personally, I was in heaven. I cried during the Butcher and cannot stop thinking about the beauty of it all.

The best shows for the audience can often be the ones that for the artist have issues. Anyway, if it was always perfect it would take away the unique experience. One of my favourite shows was Cardiff last year, but probably for all the wrong reasons. I'm glad you enjoyed the show

Oh, I completely agree. I feel bad that he wasn't able to enjoy himself as much as the audience, but I can completely understand how stressed out he would have been as it was the live premiere of an album which caused him much emotional stress and anxiety. To be honest, I would have loved anything. It was my first time seeing him and I travelled 10 hours to get there and got to meet him afterwards, so I may be looking through rose-colored glasses but I still thought his performance and song choice was wonderful. I am seeing him again on the 18th, so very much hope that he finds that concert a more enjoyable experience. He should be as happy as he makes all of us

I had a lovely time! Diamond Rings was fun, and Owen and Thomas were great. I was ecstatic that Owen did E is for Estranged, and The Dream Tree was beautiful. It was the first time I'd seen Owen play indoors (I swear it makes a difference!) since 2004, and it was so nice to be in a more intimate setting. I guess there were a few kinks, but really nothing major, I thought? Weirdest moment of the night was when a girl pushed her way up to the front near the end, and literally yanked one of the monitors over to her so she could touch the front of it. Saddest moment of the night was standing next to Reg Vermue for about 10 minutes and not being able to get up the nerve to ask for a picture. Anyway, looking forward to Feb. 6 in Guelph! ETA : It looks like this user has posted a few high quality videos : www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7_jYIHHLhAincluding E is for Estranged and Honour the Dead or Else.

I loved the show. I was right up in the front with my friend and I stared in awe the whole time. Thomas talked to us for about half an hour afterwards and I got to meet Owen himself! I've always had a love for This Lamb Sells Condos so I almost cried when he played it. I absolutely adored his adaptation and Thomas's whistling just made it all the better.

Not sure if this has been posted yet or not but Owen brought out some new material, here's a video that someone posted on youtube if anyone's interested: www.youtube.com/watch?v=58TOTznPXOIMoving on, I loved the show. Probably the most interesting bit was seeing how some of the songs have really grown and progressed since I first heard some of them back at the Danforth show a couple summers back (has it really been that long?). Also, it was great to see Thomas perform with him, he really adds to the songs and the atmosphere or everything. Great job, guys.

That new song isn't new, it's our old and coy friend 'Honour the Dead or Else'. Have no idea where Muffins of Yorkville came from but it must have been a joke in the show or something?

The Chicago show was simply fantastic, besides Owen's staying he was feeling a little under the weather. And a drunk guy trying to clap along to the songs unsuccessfully. And another guy (or maybe the same one) that kept yelling to Owen about beer. My only actual complaints are (1) that he played all the songs we expected and none that took us by surprise and (2) that he didn't make any mistakes. It was all a little too perfect.
Incidentally, Thomas is SO pretty up close. It almost made me gasp a little when I went up to congratulate him. And super friendly. I wish we were best friends.

Any chance you can post an idea of the setlist? I'm curious which Heartland songs he's playing.
