Obv in the higher ranks of FF grandmasterworks. Curious how people rate the different versions that are floating around. Lyric guesses? I started a LyricWiki entry with mine based on the Edmonton bootleg. Everybody pile on, improve, vandalize, &c.

Which version are we talking about here? The lyrics you've posted are somewhat different, structurally as well as in terms of the actual words, to the version I have / listen to.
EDIT: Ok so it's the new version!

I only have a crappy live version of this, but I really like it.
I understand it's a Les Mouches song? I have the album, and it's not on there (obviously you guys have all realised that!) Can someone point me in the right direction of where to buy/hear a studio version?

I would help you with that, but, alas, no studio version has been recorded and it is not a Les Mouches song either. It surfaced as a bootlegg, what, two years ago? It has since been going through various modificatons and it is now one of his "lost songs" if I can say that.

Originally this song was to be recorded with Death From Above 1979 for the George Cedric Medcaf EP, or something like that...
It was supposed to be released on Escape Goat I think...
Nothing ever came of it and DFA1979 folded.
It was up on the request a song list for the low price of $1000. Little more than a pair of calvin klien socks but whatever/
Owen hook us up with the "deets"

Owen played it when i saw him in Halifax a little over a month ago. The show was with Symphony Nova Scotia, and the song sounded great. Maybe if we're lucky he recorded it with the Czech Symphony.

I've made some changes to the Wiki, based on the Mod club show the other night. If anyone can help out? I'm so close to getting that line before "I have the first couple of hours to myself"! This is the video, it helps a lot: www.youtube.com/watch?v=58TOTznPXOI

Thank you for the info It's interesting how the song is popping up on a lot of live sets recently.

He played another new song at the Toronto concert on Tuesday as well. [start new EP speculation]

He played another new song at the Toronto concert on Tuesday as well. [start new EP speculation] The only "new" song I noticed was Honour the Dead or else (The Dream Tree, which I believe was one of the encore songs, is a Buffy Sainte Marie cover) - but Owen did definitely frame it as though it might be on a new EP or something, saying that he knew he had just put out Heartland, but they were always moving ahead, or something to that effect.

Yeah the other "new" song I was referring to was The Dream Tree, because I wasn't aware that it was a cover. He made it seem like he had been working on a bunch of new songs though. I read an interview in which Owen said he was pretty worn out from making Heartland so it'll probably be good on him to start a new project, even if it is only an EP. Any new music that Owen releases will be welcomed with open arms!

Any new music that Owen releases will be welcomed with open arms! Agreed! I'm hoping there's a bit more new material to be revealed this tour.
