had to join the board today to say thanks to Owen for coming over to Manchester.
Owen, if you read this, the comment made by a member of the audience is NOT where this town's at. (I'm hoping you misheard but more likely the person actually believes its cool and post (or post-post modern) to make this type of comment. I don't and neither does anyone I know.
Anyway, sorry that you appeared to be playing to the living dead..who are these people? There were a few 'live' fans sitting in the middle of the auditorium though!
A great setting and as I've mainly only heard youtube footage before, a great chance to hear your music clearly.
I hope yesterday doesn't stop you coming back to north of England.
Does anyone know what the song was, played in middle of set as one of the new songs...driving beat, could be a club classic!

Same; I've been browsing this board for a while but had to sign up to say what a fantastic show it was last night. Also, in regards to the comment made, according to someone's Twitter account; " Staunchino I shouted BOO not JEW @owenpallett " The audience was really quiet; I think we were intimidated by the venue. It was quite...ominous? The Butcher and Win & Regine back to back was the highlight of the show for me.

I think the venue made it more restrained and intimate so don't worry on that account. Yeah noisy shows with a lively audience are fun, but sometimes an appreciative audience is all you need.
I'll post a set list later today (if nobody does before hand) so you can work out which track is the new club classic and other such things.
The cover was "Dance Dance Dance" by Lykke Li. The original is on her début album Youth Novels.
more to follow...

oh thanks for all the info…
Just checked out the set list – song I referred to was Keep the Dog Quiet – just keeps morphing into a very dark techno fest in my head (I’m totally uncool, so don’t know the correct label!)
Yes, the hall was a little forbidding - reminded me of one of those trendy churches built in 1970’s – all bare brick and no pews..well, it was a kind of religious experience.
I guess next time I’ll get to see FF would be if Owen appears at Patrick Wolf’s London Palladium extravaganza in November this year….but meanwhile looking forward to some serious encounters as I catch up on FF catalogue this autumn.

It will be hard for Owen to be there as he's playing in LA with Mountain Goats on 15th November. I'm sure he'll be back sooner or later.

No Way! my friend just got me into Youth Novel a month ago! Lykke Li's been one of my favorites since! (i was going to rave on and on in the best album of the year thread how you should all go out and buy this..but it "technically" came out last year..pshh .) Dance dance dance is one of the greatest songs on it too..'hips don't lie'

So because you've got to wait a bit longer for the album, thanks to my friend Paul, here's the next best thing. The very best live recording of Final Fantasy you've had in years FLAC Version (this is the one to go for), its available here nite-klub.blogspot.com/2009/08/final-fantasy-2009-08-03-rncm.htmlMP3 Version (because we know you'll take this one anyway) www.megaupload.com/?d=C8GKQ08HPaul is one of the best audio recording people, so the fact that he's done this for us is amazing. Thanks so much Paul..and Owen for providing us all with such special times.

Might see if we can merge the audio with the video shot, although the audio on the video came out okay. In the meanwhile the show will be posted to YouTube over the next few days. One way or another I'll make a dvd of the show available here.

Thought I'd join to say thanks for the mp3! I was there as well, and whilst yeah it was quiet, I felt it was a great intimate setting to see him. I was also at Field Day and he was definitely better in Manchester. Can't wait for the video recordings!
