I know it gets people offended, but I get a sadistic thrill out of the subject, so what are you? I'll start: I'm a passive Christian who doesn't work well with too many other Christians, particularly fundamentalists. PS. I didn't start this thread to be a prick, I actually was looking in the dead philosophical debate forum and thought it'd be nice to have a civilized yet spirited discussion, since you guys are my favorite board.

um I'm a cultural jew, so I recognize it as part of who I am but do not wish to practise the religion. Also, don't believe in god, nor do i believe organized religion is a important as people make it out to be. I don't see it as necessary for myself, if someone else is happy and found something in it for them, that's great, as long as they don't try to push it on me.
i think that about sums it up

Ah Religion. One of my favourites subjects (I'm not being sarcastic).
Well, I was born/raised as a Maronite, which is a part of Christianity that's really popular in Lebanon and Brazil. My Mom is a Orthodox (she's a believer) and my Dad is a Maronite (he's a non-believer). I myself don't practice religion or anything. I go to church maybe once in a year, but not a lot. I'm actually interested in all kinds of religion and their influences on art, politics and all those things. But yeah, as Keren said, as long as people are happy with who they are with or wihout religion that's fine with me.

There's actually a whole other section of SHZine dedicated to this subject. There been some pretty interesting discussions over there; I highly reccomend checking it out.
As for me, I'm a teleological existential atheist.

I grew up in an evangelical Christian home, and stepped away from it in high school to go do my own thing--which has, so far, developed into something half Discordian, half Atheist, and half "I just think it's better to have ideas than beliefs."

Believers or not, the country where I live is ruled by lazy habits. One of these is Catholicism. You don't even have to have doubts about it, you let it flow through your veins and wear it as an accessory like any other. Catholicism rules and condemn, but who cares? At the end of the day it makes you feel you belong to the "right" side of things, it cures your delusions with even bigger delusions, it injects in you the common sense your true nature lacks.
I divorced Church and religions a long time ago. Whatever the truth, if there is one, I don't think man is made to unveil it with his limited powers; he can only deceive himself. If anybody comes to convert me - like they often do - I tell them "Don't touch me I am a rabid atheist!" and they usually believe me and retreat full of disgust.
