Has anyone seen the Clorox commercial with the Your Light Is Spent knock off in it? I just saw it twice in the past hour and I'm pretty curious what's up with it, like whether they couldn't license it or if they just decided rip Owen off.

yeah, i've definitely meant to post about that at least two times but forgot. apparently if you change "do not offer me a contract" to "do do do do do do do do do do" it gets you out of a lawsuit.

I totally saw that, I'm sick and tired of these commercials using plucked strings/ukulele to try to be "quirky." Most of them are generally annoying, but that one was indeed a blatant ripoff. EDIT:though not as blatant as that german one, hahaha. |

It was a really shitty rip off, too, that's the worst part. I wonder what Owen thinks of this.

haha, i just saw it!
they do change up the chord progression towards the end of the commercial, i hope that wasnt just to cover their asses from a lawsuit
i know there used to be a lot of andrew bird-instrumental-pizzicato commercials in a similar case.. i would think he gave permission for there use because the two were identical..
well, hopefully owens cashing it all in

The Marriott commercials? He did. I haven't seen this Clorox ad though so I will have to watch for it, unless someone uploads it to youtube. |
