For real though, Shad deserves to win just as much as anyone on the list. Everyone should watch his video for "The Old Prince still lives at home".

Cool video, isn't it?
The more I think about it, the more I think that Basia should win.

Well, the results are in folks!
Caribou is the official Polaris Music Prize 2008 winner.

I think their name gave them an unfair advantage…
it’s the obvious choice for a Canadian award with lots of leeway to unfairly seduce the judges.
I mean, think about it...they’ve pretty much locked up the home-field advantage with a moniker like Caribou !!!
and no other Canuckian ungulate could stand a chance…
consider the other band-name options… Moose?…Canadian horse?…err… Beaver?
of course, I kid. Andorra rocked my socks. Congrats to them.

Thats three years in a row now I have successfully predicted winner of the shortlist, each time its always like, "Oh, X artist should win, but they won't."
Next year i'm betting money. Car-i-bou! Car-i-bou!

Caribou is one of the ones on the shortlist that I am yet to hear the full album, so judging by past years (err....last year) I will probably go and pick it up.
I was flipping through the metro paper on the ttc this morning and the article mentioned something about the inaugural winner:
"It's a resurgence for a lot of band's records," says Stephen Himmelfarb, the prize's inaugural winner in 2006.
uhhhhhh......Did Owen change his name? Wikipedia leaves me with no result of this mysterious person.
